Usage guide for your phone abroad (International roaming)
After Landing
Turn on your phone and after a few (5-10) minutes your phone will find a local network and
you can start talking with your device.
Please wait patiently until your device finds a local server, it usually takes a few seconds.
There are cases that it can take 10 minutes.
If 10 minutes passed and your device does not yet find a local network then follow these
steps please:
Step 1

Go to "Settings."
Click “Carrier”
Make sure that the selection is set to "Automatic "
Step 2

Go to "Settings."
Click “Phone”
Click “Sim Applications”
Click “Roaming Services ”
Click “Select Mode”
Verify "Automatic" is selected
Internet surfing abroad:
It is very expensive to surf the web abroad and for that reason the default setting for the
service is disabled.
If you do wish to enable the surfing while roaming abroad, you can do so through "My
Account" online.
Following are the steps to enable the surfing while roaming abroad:








Go to our website www.golantelecom.co.il
Click on “My Account”
In the "log in screen" insert your details: account number and password .
Click on “My lines” tab
Click on "Setting and Changes" for the line in question.
You made it to the relevant page )-:
Scroll down until you get to the headline “Usage While Abroad”
Now you can open/close your "Mobile Internet " and/or "Roaming usage abroad "
SMS while you are roaming abroad
This service is available while roaming abroad.
Note: When sending SMS while you are abroad you must add the country code in order for
the message to be sent. Israel's code is +972
Tip: If you are sending a text message to someone from your contact list, add +972 to his
number in your cell phone's phone book so that you will not need to edit the number every
time before sending the SMS.
Multimedia messages (MMS) abroad:
This service is not supported while roaming abroad .
How to dial Israel?
The discounted calling method:
We recommend to use our discounted calling method known as “callback” while you are
abroad (it is the default option(
Guide to using “callback”:




Call the number the same way you would call in Israel (you can call from your
cellphone's phone book or the number with +972 prefix)
The call made will disconnect automatically.
After a few seconds you will receive an incoming call.
Answer that call and talk to the person you dialed to when he answers.
Tips :



While making a callback it is recommended not to use your phone and wait patiently
until the callback rings.
The payment for callback starts when you answer the callback and not when you start
talking to the other party.
To get the + icon: long press on 0, or press * a few times rapidly until the + sign
shows up.
Direct dial to Israel (with no callback(
This is a guide to make direct calls to Israel:







Dial *64* to cancel the callback service (that will allow direct calling )
Long press on 0 or press * a few times until the + sign shows up.
Insert Israel's area code +972
Call the area code with no 0 (for Golan members dial 58)
Dial the desired number and press "send."
At the end of the call please do not forget to turn back on the "call back" service to
avoid dialing expensive calls mistakenly .
To enable "callback" dial *63 *
Tip: Direct calls to Israel are more expensive and we highly recommend to use the callback
service.
How to dial International calls (other than Israel):
Dial + and then insert the country and city code (of the destination of the line) then the rest of
the number. Ex: Calling a phone in London while in France, 44 (country code) 207 (city code)
then number 5858585, +442075858585
If you cannot make a call from one country to the other



Turn off your callback by dialing *64 *
Dial with the instructions above.
At the end of the call turn the callback back on using *63 *
How do I use the voice mail while roaming abroad ?





The default setting to dial the voice mail is by call back .
Dial the same way you would while in Israel: 058-7770151 or +972587770151 or long
press 1.
The call will automatically disconnect.
After a few seconds you will receive an incoming call from the answering machine.
Listen to your messages .
Note:


Listening to the voice mail messages while abroad is at the callback prices.
If you disabled call back it is recommended to turn it back on to get cheaper rates .
How do I dial Golan Telecom's service center while abroad?






Dial with callback
Dial the number 058-5555858 or + 972585555858
Press "send"
The call will disconnect
After a few seconds you will receive an incoming call to your phone
Accept the call and talk to one of our customer representatives
Note: The call to our service center is free only from Golan Telecom numbers.
