Finger Lakes Grape Seed Oil – Collaboration
With Largest Indian Winery
Finger Lakes Natural Oils, LLC announced today a joint venture collaboration with the largest
vineyard and winery in India, the Nashik-based Sula Winery. After negotiating works scopes and
completing engineering design efforts during the past 3 months, CEO of Finger Lakes Natural
Oils – Michael Coia announced this week that just in time for the holidays, the maker of Finger
Lakes Grape Seed Oil is completing a design/build contract with Sula for production of India’s
first extra virgin grape seed oil. The project is scheduled for completion with Finger Lakes and
Sula processing collected grape pomace from their upcoming grape crush season in
February/March 2013. As India’s largest wine producer, in a country where the rising middleclass continues their love for fine wines, Sula recognizes the value of waste management,
environmental sustainability and producing an additional healthy product such as extra virgin
grape seed oil. Such is the vision of Finger Lakes Natural Oils.
Mr. Coia stated about the past 2 years of Finger Lakes grape seed oil operations, “Our successful
commercial operations have demonstrated the effectiveness of our designed system for grape
pomace processing to separate grape seeds from the waste skins and stems, and for producing the
finest extra virgin grape seed oil.” Finger Lakes Grape Seed Oil is now widely recognized as a
healthy extra virgin grape seed oil product, produced locally in New York’s Finger Lakes, and
now being regionally marketed and sold within 375ml bottles and bulk containers at fine retail

In their collaboration with Sula Winery, it was critical that the grape seed oil would be produced
meeting the quality control standards established by Finger Lakes Natural Oils. As Mr. Coia
stated in his comments, “Sula Winery is pleased to be teaming with a quality producer of extra
virgin grape seed oil, and our joint plans for production in 2013 involves use of properly designed
equipment systems and appropriate pomace processing and grape seed press operations. We will
guarantee production of only the finest high quality cold pressed, extra virgin grape seed oil,
possessing the same required healthy antioxidants as we produce in our Finger Lakes oils.”
The collaboration began with Sula’s searching of US-based grape seed oil production, and after
meetings and interviews this summer 2012, Finger Lakes Natural Oils was selected as Sula’s
partner, and the collaborations began. Sula’s CEO was educated in the US and developed an
appreciation for winemaking in the US, before restarting his family-owned vineyards and winery
about 10 years ago in the Maharashtra region of India. Understanding the viticulture procedures
and wine making operations at Sula’s numerous winery facilities has been important to Finger
Lakes Natural Oils cost-effective design/build services, and the collaboration now progresses
with equipment fabrication and construction over the next 2 months. Mr. Coia is pleased with the
