Communications Features
Emergency alarm on top of car
When Passenger press the Alarm Button on the COP or if persons in the car keep constant
pressure on the alarm button, the bell on the top of the car will be initiated.
Interphone between car and machine room
An intercom system between car and machine room, activated by the interphone
button on the car operating panel.
Car Position Indicator (CPI)
16-Segment Digital display which incorporates car direction arrows, car
position indicator, and emergency messages.
Hall and Car Button with Tell - Tale
A registered command illuminates button.
Hall Lantern
The Hall Lantern includes a hall up direction lantern and a hall down direction lantern and
is designed to be used in conjunction with the Early Call Announcement (ECA) function.
Hall Direction Indicator (HDI)
Includes a hall up direction light and a hall down direction light.
Car Operating Panel Direction Indicator (CDI)
Includes a hall up directon light and a hall down direction light.
Hall Position Indicator (HPI)
"Persons at landings (generally main landing) can see, where the elevator(s) are.

Full Collective Operation (FCO)
All car and/or hall calls registered are answered in the order in which the landings are
reached. Direction of travel will be established by the first car command/hall call registered.
Alternate Door Profiles (ADP)
Two different door speed profiles for opening and closing are automatically chosen by
system according to the traffic conditions (average registration time).
Door Open Button (DOB)
Permits to open or re-open an automatic door, and to keep it open by constant pressure.
Door Close Button (DCB)
Causes the remaining door dwell time to be canceled and the doors begin to close immediately.
Platform Load Weighing (LWP)
Measures carload so that proper starting torque is applied to motor.
Load Weighing Bypass (LWB)
"When a car is loaded to a predetermined percent of capacity, the weight sensing devices
will operate causing that car to bypass further hall calls."
Relevelling Operation (RLEV)
Stopping errors shall be corrected by releveling.
Car Call Behind
Car calls are only allowed to be registered in the direction the car call is currently moving.
Advance Door Opening (ADO)
To enhance performance time, the doors begin opening while the car is still
approach to the landing.

ARD causes the car to park at a specified landing when there is no further demand.

Relative system response dispatching (RSR)
RSR is a numeric index that indicates the desirability of having a given car respond to a
given hall call based on the car's parameters (position, direction, load, etc.) and the car's
previously assigned demands for service (car and hall calls). Only the car with the best
(lowest) RSR is assigned to respond to a given hall call.
Comfort Features
Manual Fan (FAN-1)
The fan is operated by an electro-mechanical switch in the car-operating panel.
Automatic Fan (FAN-2)
The fan is operated by the controller. It is stopped, if the car is parking, and running otherwise.
Emergency Functions
Emergency Car Lightait (ECU)
An automatically rechargeable emergency supply will switch-on automatically upon failure of the normal lighting supply.
Emergency Stop Switch (ESS)
A switch will be provided in the service cabinet for stopping the elevator
normal operation in case of emergency.
Safety Functions
Protection Device (IRC3D)
If any beam in the curtain is broken, the LAMBDA* 3D system reopens the elevator door
instantly-without touching passengers. The three-dimensional safety zone extends into
hallway ensuring maximum safety for passengers and improving overall system reliability.
Top of Car Inspection (ICT)
An enabling switch in the car operating panel allows the controls in a fixture on the top of the
car to be used to move the car at reduced speeds for installation, inspection, and maintenance.
Machine Room Inspection (MRI)
An enabling switch in the car operating panel allows the controls in a fixture in the cotrol
panel in the machine room to be used to move the car at reduced speeds for installation,
inspection, and maintenance.
Inspection of Power phase position
When the main supply current loss phase or in phase failure, the elevator will stop from operation

Motor temperature protection
Overload Device (OLD)
When the motor temperature is exceeding a specific value the elevator will be stopped.
When the load in the car exceeds rated capacity, the in-car buzzer will sound and the
lamp will be illuminated. The elevator will remain at the landing with the doors
Misuse Functions
Anti-Nuisance Car Call Protection (ANS)
When weight of passengers in the car is not more than 80kg, and four or more
car calls are registered, all car calls are canceled.
Nudging (NDG)
If the doors are prevented from closing for a fixed period time, the door reversal devices are
rendered inoperative (except for the door open buttons), a buzzer sounds, and the doors begin
to close at a reduced speed. Normal door operation is resumed when the door fully closes.

Remote Elevator Monitoring Ready (REM)
REM is a system for monitoring of elevator activities and the transmission of
information through the Public Telephone Network to a Local monitoring

Communications Features
Car Arrival Chime
When the car arrives at hall called landings, the chime on the top of car
will activate. Persons at the landing will hear an arrival tone.
Sound Car Buttons
When a car button is pushed the electrical buzzer in the COP will be operated
momentarily. This function is specifically for handicapped passengers.
Speech Synthesis - English & Chinese (SSM)
Equipment is furnished to allow an audible announcement of the name of the next landing
at which the elevator will stop and the committed direction of travel. Chinese and English
language is available.
Interphone between car and security room
An intercom system between car and security room. It shall be activated by the
interphone button on the car operating panel.
Electroluminescent Display (ELD)
Early call announcement (ECA)
The Electroluminescent Display (ELD) functions as both a car and hall position indicator.
The hall-mounted display shows the car position, direction of travel, and arrival signal.

Activated when the doors do not close within a defined period of time. Activation of
operation extinguishes the direction lanterns; clear car calls and reassigns hall calls.

Comfort Features
Door Hold Open Switch (DOS)
Opens the door, reverses the door, and keeps the door open for
specified adjustable door hold time.
Door Hold Open Button (DHB)
Opens the door, reverses the door, and keeps the door open for a specified
adjustable door hold time.
Micro Motion Button (MMB)
The motionless button activates upon finger contact with the surface of the button,
without any sensory perception of button movement.
Special Transport Functions
Hall Call Cut-Off-All Landings (HCCO)
Activation of this feature disables all hall calls, while allowing car calls. When the car
has no further demand, it parks with a door open at the last landing served.
Car Call Cut-Off Switch (CCO)
When activated the car no longer serves car calls. Hall calls are answered normally.
Independent Service (ISC)

Removes the car from the group, permitting it to respond to registered car calls while prohibiting the doors from closing unless constant pressure is applied to a start button. While
on this operation, the car ignores all hall calls and hall lanterns do not illuminate.
Secure Access Operation (SAO)
Assigns security codes to each car call button. If a car call button is secured, the call is
not registered unless a landing access code is correctly entered using some of the car
call buttons.
Timed Automatic Car Return (TAR)
ARD causes the car to park at a specified landing when there is no further demand.

programmed to park at the ARD position with its doors open.
Parking and Shutdown Operation (PKS)
Brings the car to a landing, places the doors in a defined position,

Express Priority Service (EPS)
The car able to respond in the shortest time answers the registered call after canceling prior car
calls and redistributing them to another car in the group. It will travel tothat floor nonstop. When
the car reaches the landing registering the call, the car will serve the car call then resume normal
operation. This operation can be modified so that the car remains in
Executive Priority Service (XPS)
A landing key switch on each landing requiring this service accomplishes the initiation
Executive Priority Service. The car able to respond in the shortest time answers the registered
call after answering existing car calls. When the car reaches the landing registering the call,
one of the following occurs:
Up Peak Clock operation (DPC)
This feature will initiate Moderate Incoming Traffic after a designated Up Peak Clock
begins and one car leaves the lobby loaded to a predetermined percent of capacity. Up Peak
Clock maintains a group of elevators in this mode for the remainder of the designated Up Peak
Clock period.
Up Peak Clock operation (DPC)
This feature will initiate Moderate Outgoing Traffic after a designated Down Peak
period begins and one car arrives at the lobby loaded to a predetermined percent of
capacity. Down Peak Clock maintains a group of elevators in this mode for the remainder
the designated Down Peak Clock period.
Down Collective Operation (DCO)
The car shall answer calls in the order in which floors are reached, irrespective of the time
sequence in which the calls were registered. There is no up call button in the standard
floors, only car calls shall be answered when the car is traveling in the up direction, and only car
calls and down hall calls shall be answered when the car is traveling in the down direction.
Static Channeling Operation (CHC)
Each car arrives at the lobby, the car is assigned a sector that it will serve. The car will
accept car calls for the landings within its assigned sector. The sectors are determined
taking the number of floors and dividing by the number of available cars. The
information is displayed on each car's ELD display or on permanent signs.
Emergency Functions
Earthquake Operation (EQO)
Activated when seismic activity is de tected. The car performs an emergency stop, and then
cues into a landing moving away from the counterweight. Once at a landing, the doors open and
the car shuts down. The car remains out of service until the car is inspected and
Emergency Power Operation (EPO)
Activated when the main power supply is lost. Cars a re sent to a selected landing where
they open their doors at that landing and then stay idle with open doors.
Emergency Medical Operation (EMT)
Activation of the emergency medical hall switch activates the in-car buzzer and illuminates a
lamp in the car and hall. This forces the car to cancel car calls, reassigns hall calls, and
non-stop to the defined medical landing.
Emergency Medical Car Operation (EMK)
The car automatically enters the emergency medical car operation after the doors are open at
the medical return landing. Prior to activation, the door can not be closed and car calls can
not be registered. An active car switch allows car calls to be registered, which automatically
closes the door and moves the car to the target landing.
Emergency Fireman Service Phase I (EFS-1 )
When activated the car is returned non-stop to a pre-defined landing and taken out of
service.
Emergency Fireman Service Phase II (EFS-2)
When activated the car operation is initiated to allow an authorized person to move the

ADA Emergency Communications (ADA)
This feature is used in conjunction with a building motion detector provided by others. When a
signal is received from the motion detector, one of the following three phases will be initiated:
1) Elevator speed will be reduced to a secondary contract speed.
2) Elevator will stay in a state of continuous motion.
3) Elevator will shut down.
NOTE: The enactment of the above levels is dependent upon the severity of the motion detected.
A handicap elevator communications feature that allows for communication
the car by means other than by voice.
Safety Functions
Anti-Crime Protection (ACP)
Forces each car in the group to stop at a pre-determined floor and open its door. This
security guard or receptionist at the floor to visually inspect the passengers of the elevator before
the car completes its run.

Elevator management system (EMS)
(Contract Optional)
This is a monitoring pan el loca ted in the security room that displa ys the status of all the elevators or
escalators operating in the builidi ng includi ng flooring location, traveling direction, in/out-of service etc.
A monitoring and control system that is used by building management and security personnel
observe and modify elevator operation and performance. EMS can provide time-based control of
security access.
