Textbook:
Required: Physics for Engineers and Scientists, 3rd Ed., Ohanian and Markert, Vol. 2
(either print or electronic version) and iClicker remote (below). Optional: Study guide.

“Quizzes:” Three exams Tuesday nights 7:00–9:00pm on Feb. 19 and Mar. 26 in WEL 1.308, and
on Apr. 23 in JES A121A. An equation sheet ("Course Summary Sheet") will be
provided; also, you may bring one 8.5”x11” handwritten sheet.
Final:
The final exam is mandatory, Wednesday, May 8, 2:00–5:00pm.
Homework: Read and study the chapter assigned on the back of this sheet before coming to class.
Homework is submitted on the CNS Quest website (see below) and is due 4am
Thursdays (so really due Wednesday nights). Exceptions: No homework due Jan. 17
or Mar. 14. Register at: https://quest.cns.utexas.edu/student and choose Homework 1.
Coaching/
Help:
Help with HW submission is available in the PMCL in RLM 7.306. Coaching tables
on the 5th floor of RLM have daytime TA help (use escalators for floors 5–7).
Classwork: iClicker system. Buy an iClicker remote and register its serial number under your profile
on the Quest homework service only. We will practice on W 1/16 and begin on F 1/18.
Attendance/ Attendance and participation will be by iClicker login and answers starting 1/18 and

Homework: You should do most of the homework throughout the week before it is due. Submit your HW
to Quest expeditiously. Continue submitting answers until due time. Urgent message related to HW will
be posted on Quest. Solutions will be available on Quest 2 hours after the due time.
This course carries the Quantitative Reasoning flag.
This course makes use of the web-based Quest content delivery and homework server
system maintained by the College of Natural Sciences. This homework service will
require a $25 charge per student per class for its use, with no student being charged
more than $50 a semester. This goes toward the maintenance and operation of the
resource. Please go to http://quest.cns.utexas.edu to log in to the Quest system for this
class. After the 12th day of class, when you log into Quest you will be asked to pay via
credit card on a secure payment site. Quest provides mandatory instructional material
