Summary
• The Texas Education Code (TEC), §39.306, requires each district’s
board of trustees to publish an annual report that includes the TAPR,
district accreditation status, campus performance objectives,
information on violent or criminal incidents, and information on the
performance of the previous year’s graduates in their first year of
college, as reported by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating
Board.
• Each district’s board of trustees must hold a public hearing to
discuss the district’s annual report within 90 days of receiving the
TAPR on November 16, 2015
•

The Texas Education Agency awards an accreditation status to each public school district and charter school.
The accreditation status is based on the academic accountability rating and financial ratings from the Financial Integrity
Rating System of Texas.
A district or chartermust be accredited by the state to operate as a public school.
