The Trust for Governors Island (The Trust), which manages 150 acres of Governors Island, seeks a highly motivated and organized Vice President for Operations and Facilities. The VP for Operations and Facilities has primary responsibility for the dayto-day operations of the Island, including both basic operating functions (ferry, security, janitorial) and ongoing maintenance of Island systems (boilers, electrical, infrastructure, etc.). The Vice President is also responsible for coordination with the operations of new and future tenants, and for the maintenance of the Island remarkable mix of historic and new open spaces. The Vice President is responsible for a team of four direct reports, and reports directly to the Trust’s President. Specific duties will include, but are not limited to: • • • • • • • • Oversight and management of a primary facilities management contract, as well as key subcontracts for security, ferry service, maintenance, janitorial service, grounds keeping, and related services. Develop and implement core policies and procedures for Island operations, including US Coast Guard regulations, local codes, public safety, OSHA standards, union regulations, and the Island’s on-going public access program. Oversee procurement of operations contracts and subcontracts. Maintain the operations budget, including regular interaction with the Trust’s finance department Report regularly to Trust senior staff to highlight any operational issues of note Work with Trust capital staff to develop and implement maintenance protocols and contracts for infrastructure systems. Develop operations policies and procedures for current and future Island tenants. Plan for and execute future scenarios for public access, development, and construction on the Island. The VP for Operations and Facilities is responsible for Island facilities including dozens of historic buildings, acres of new and historic open space, and millions of dollars in new and existing infrastructure systems. In 2016, Governors Island is open to the public seven days a week from May 28-September 25. The operation of the Island continues year-round, with a public high school, artist studio programs, and new commercial tenancy starting construction in the coming months.
