SECTION 013323 - SHOP DRAWINGS AND PRODUCT SAMPLES
This Section Supplements Article 3.2 of the General Conditions.
PART 1 - GENERAL

SUBMITTALS
Submissions shall be required for all manufactured, assembled, and custom items on
Drawings or as required in the specifications.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
A.
Shop Drawings: Prepare project specific information, drawn accurately to scale. Do not
base Shop Drawings on reproduction of the Contract Documents or standard printed data.
Fully illustrate contract requirements in the shop drawing submittal. Contractor shall
submit shop drawings in PDF electronic format, unless otherwise requested by the Owner
or Engineer.
B.
Product Data: Collect information into a single submittal for each element of construction
and type of product or equipment. Submit product data before or concurrent with samples
as required. Contractor shall submit product data in PDF electronic format, unless
otherwise requested by the Owner or Engineer.
C.
Samples: Submit samples for review of kind, color, pattern, and texture for a check of
these characteristics with other elements and for a comparison of these characteristics
between submittal and actual components as delivered and installed. Transmit samples that
contain multiple, related components such as accessories together in one submittal
package.
D.
Cross out irrelevant information and highlight the specified features, in color other than
red, on all shop drawings and product data submitted.

Use enclosed "Submittal Form" with each submittal. Fill out completely.
APPROVAL PROCEDURE
A.
The Engineer will review submittals and return them stamped with one or more of the
following actions:
1.
Stamped "No Exceptions Taken"
a.
No corrections or resubmission required. Fabrication may proceed.

Stamped "Provide as Corrected"
a.
Proceed with fabrication if Contractor complies with noted corrections.
b.
If Contractor cannot comply with noted corrections, fabrications shall not
proceed and Contractor shall resubmit.
3.
Stamped "Revise and Resubmit"
a.
Do not proceed with fabrication.
b.
Resubmit for review.
4.
Stamped "Rejected"
a.
Do not proceed with fabrication.
b.
Submit appropriate product for review.
DISTRIBUTION
A.
Engineer will return one (1) marked up electronic copy of reviewed shop drawings, Product
Data and sample to Contractor.
B.
Contractor to make distribution to subcontractors, suppliers, etc. as required.
C.
Contractors are responsible to verify dimensions in the field.
D.
Contractors shall verify quantities of materials to be supplied.
E.
Coordinate each submittal with requirements of work and of contract documents.
F.
Contractor's responsibility for errors and omissions in submittals is not relieved by
Engineer's review of submittals.
G.
Contractor's responsibility for deviations in submittals from requirements of contract
documents is not relieved by Engineer's review of submittals, unless Engineer gives written
acceptance of specific deviations.
H.
Notify Engineer, in writing at time of submission, of deviations in submittals from
requirements of contract documents.
I.
If submittals deviate from the contract documents and Engineer is not notified in writing of
such deviation, then review is invalid.

RECORD DRAWINGS
A.
The Owner will provide two (2) sets of drawings to the Contractor to maintain and submit
as record drawings unless otherwise indicated in the specification sections. These prints
shall be maintained at the site and shall at all times, absolutely, clearly, and completely
show the actual installations in accordance with the Contract requirements. All changes in
the work of subcontractors shall be recorded.

B.
Upon completion of the work and after checking any subcontractor's record drawings and
all required drawings, the Contractor shall submit a complete set of marked-up record
drawings to the Owner within 14 days to be used for the final inspection, and acceptance
and for verification. Upon completion of the work, the record drawings shall become the
property of the Owner.
