Fundraising
Asking for Donations
• Start with a greeting and then make a transition.
• Make a connection to the Relay for Life. Why are you
participating in this event?
• Share what is at stake.
• Get the commitment.
• Ask, Ask, Ask! People can only make a donation if you
give them an opportunity to do so. Don’t be shy about
asking more than once because everyone needs a
reminder now and then. Send an email asking for
donation and follow up with a letter or phone call!
• If the answer is no, continue to ask others. Ask even
those you don’t think will donate, sometimes they are
the ones who donate the most! Or ask them to come
to Relay to see what it’s all about!
Tips for Individual Fundraising
• Send an email to everyone you know or have
ever had contact with asking for a donation.
• Follow up your emails to those who have not
donated with the same letter and a postage paid
envelope!
• Set your goal as your status through Face book at
least once a week adding the link to your page so
they can make an on-line donation.
• Plan a Pampered Chef, Arbonne, Tupperware,
Thirty One, etc. as a fundraiser!
• Each year send a thank you and update your
supporters on your individual, team and event
accomplishments. Add some pictures!
Tips for Team Fundraising
• Think about your talents, and those of your team
members. Build your fundraisers around what you are
really good at.
• Take advantage of town events that have booths
available to sell luminary bags or other craft items.
• Building your contact list through drawings so you can
include them for your next event.
• Build a Team Face book Page and Update with your
events. Hand out business cards with your team
information and see how many people will “like” your
page!
• Think both big and small when creating events!
• Use the local papers to promote your team and your
events. An article is free and can go a long way!

email updates to keep your team informed.

donate…so be proud of your team and bring
up Relay For Life whenever possible!
• Don’t forget to email Stacey with any
upcoming fundraisers!
• Try to support each other and events for the
entire event whenever possible! We are all in
this together!
