This post holds accountability for the day-to-day management, motivation, development, performance and delivery for the contract team, Carry out electrical work in accordance with the current regulations, codes and approved practices. E.g. IEE wiring regulations, (17th edition, amendment 1). Be able to use all machinery associated with this discipline. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system. Carry out testing on fire alarms and electrical hand appliances (PATT), keeping records and writing up reports. To carry out all diagnostic and/or pre-measuring work with the aim of completing repairs within the same appointment wherever possible. To inform the tenant (with reasons) when it is not possible to attempt to complete a repair within the first visit and make mutually agreed arrangements to return to complete. In particular this will involve carrying out other multi-skilled duties to an acceptable standard, such as carrying out minor works, cleaning or clearance of voids. Maintain the organisation’s NICEIC membership by undertaking all work to the necessary regulations and passing the annual competency inspection. Complete and submit all of the necessary paperwork and undertake training as required. Record all materials used and maintain sufficient van stock to ensure that target dates are adhered to. Keep a record of van stock and purchase additional stock from approved wholesalers. Accurately complete all paperwork including timesheets, work details and quantities utilising schedule of rates fill in works orders and hand into the Manager of Greenspace & Homespace on a daily basis. To be aware of responsibilities when entering properties, (including to keep tenants informed, and on completion of job to leave tenants property in a clean and tidy condition). Carry out work in a tidy manner, keeping work areas clean and safe, protecting tenants and members of the public at all times. Clear and clean up after works have been completed. Drive and operate the works vehicle in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring the vehicle is in a safe and roadworthy condition at all times and that the correct fluid levels, tyre pressures are maintained. Keep the vehicle clean and tidy. Maintain a record of fuel and mileage usage. Maintain a sound working knowledge of Health and Safety regulations such as working from height, asbestos awareness. Operate in a safe manner at all times in accordance with current health and safety legislation, regulations and codes of practice. Promote the service and organisation positively at all times. Experienced Electrician qualified to the 17th edition of the I.E.E. regulations. Ideally this will include a city & Guilds 236 pt1 & 2 and 2391 inspection and testing. Certificate for carrying out PATT testing Behaviours The post holder must be able to demonstrate a commitment to and the ability to role model our values. Knowledge and Skills Excellent fault finding and diagnostic skills is essential. Must be capable of producing work to a high quality standard within clearly defined deadlines. Ability to work with little or no supervision is essential. Able to complete associated works or other building maintenance works is desirable. Willingness to undertake further training as required. In particular to ensure the continual NICEIC accreditation. Must be flexible and confident, being prepared to take on a variety of work as part of a hard working team. Commitment to high level of customer care is essential, some previous experience or training is desirable. Ability to positively contribute to the workforce team, assisting others with workload; maintaining and building positive relationships with other team members. Experience A minimum of 5 years’ experience in domestic electrical installation repairs, inspection & testing Competency in carrying a full range of electrical repair work, installations and testing to ensure accreditation of NICEIC registration (essential) Ability to carry out rewiring of domestic properties and full electrical inspections. Experience gained in a Registered Social Landlord, domestic contractor, 3 or local authority background is desirable. Leadership (If applicable) A current driving licence, (preferably clean) is essential. The post holder will have the ability to be an effective role model for Worthing Homes at the management level and to be able to develop productive working relationships.
