Lift Maintenance Electrician/Senior Mechanic As Catamount’s lift maintenance electrician, the incumbent ensures the safety and reliability of our lifts by monitoring, maintaining and repairing lift electrical equipment in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations. The ideal candidate holds a competent electrical/mechanical skill set and demonstrates an ability to positively work as part of a larger team. As Catamount’s senior mechanic, the incumbent ensures that the vehicle fleet and all mechanical equipment is maintained and repaired as required. Fleet/equipment includes light pick-up trucks, cars, snow groomer, dump truck, and lawn & garden equipment such as mowers, tillers, etc. This position supervises all other staff mechanics and is a year-round, full-time position which reports to Mountain Manager. Essential Duties / Responsibilities Electrical Must be able to perform under pressure while troubleshooting failures with lifts and other systems on and off the mountain Inspect lifts for any existing or potential problems and maintain and repair lifts Must know when to close down a lift or shut down other machinery or devices In the event of a malfunction locate and diagnose problems and perform repairs Work on low voltage safety circuits, AC and DC motor controls, motors up to 770 HP, PLC's, heating and lighting Assist mechanics with mechanical repairs and maintenance when required Perform line checks, battery inspections, drive and motor inspections Plan, strategize, design, build, install and/or upgrade electrical systems Install, maintain and repair electrical equipment throughout the resort Perform all electrical installations/repairs throughout the resort to current Massachusetts Electrical Codes and National Electrical Codes Maintain tools, equipment and shop work areas Prepare logs of maintenance and repair work completed Ensure proper records are kept on work completed on all assigned tasks Mechanical Set and carry out preventative vehicle and lift maintenance schedules Inspect, diagnose, repair, and service mechanical and electrical systems Ensure water pumps, compressors, and fanjets for snow making are in good working order; diagnose and repair as necessary Minimum Qualifications Must be a minimum of 18 years of age At least: Three years electrical and electro mechanical experience Three years of previous demonstrated experience in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and overhauling engines Must have: Valid driver’s license Ability to climb/work at substantial heights in all kinds of weather (heat, cold, rain, wind, ice, snow, etc.) Excellent troubleshooting skills Ability to work harmoniously/diplomatically with a variety of people including the public Must be able to: Work efficiently and calmly under pressure Complete tasks individually with little supervision as well as work as part of a team Lift and carry loads up to 100 pounds Work on weekends and holidays including some overtime during winter season (November-March) Must recognize and adhere to safety concerns and established protocol Drug-free workplace, may be subject to drug screening and/or background check Physical Demands While performing this job, the employee is frequently exposed to extreme temperature variations, outside weather conditions, including snow, sleet, freezing rain, and extreme heat. The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally very loud.
