The Department of Infectious Diseases at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Division of Internal Medicine seeks a Physician-Scientist for a tenure-track position at the assistant, associate or full professor level. Candidates with research programs in all areas of Infectious Diseases will be considered. Candidates should be Board certified in Infectious Diseases and will be expected to develop a laboratory-based investigative program. We anticipate that for each individual's effort, 70% - 80% will focus on research with 20% - 30% distributed between clinical and teaching activities. Independent grant funding, publication record, and programmatic synergy with members of the Infectious Diseases faculty will be considered. The Department of Infectious Diseases benefits from an outstanding scientific and clinical environment, including collaborations with colleagues in Microbiology, Pharmacology, Genetics, and Immunology. Areas of interest could include any of the following: gram negative bacterial pathogens including antimicrobial resistance, microbiome (including GI infections and their impact on cancer and GVHD), immunology, vaccines, immune enhancement, biofilm and device related infections, virology (example respiratory viruses including influenza, noroviruses, as well as herpes viruses and CMV), and mycology. The overriding requirement for faculty appointment, reappointment and promotion within the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center must be distinguished performance.
