INVENTORY AND INFORMATION
FOR
EMERGENCY BACKUP GENERATOR AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT
AT
BCWSA’S WATER BOOSTER STATION 3A
Prepared by: Carroll Engineering Corporation (September 2015)
The Bucks County Water and Sewer Authority (BCWSA) is seeking bids on a Cummins/Onan
Model 1500DFMB/64211J (1500 kW) Emergency Generator System, a Simplex Saturn-HV
1500 Resistive Load Bank, a 13.2 kV Primary Switch, and a 2,400 Volt Transformer.
The generator and switchgear panel have been housed inside BCWSA’s Water Booster Station
3A and maintained as an emergency backup generator system since the installation in 1994. The
load bank was also installed in 1994, and sits outside the building on a concrete pad. The
Primary Switch and Transformer also sit outside the building on concrete pads, and they have
been installed since the pump station was first constructed in the 1980’s.
The generator system has been regularly exercised by BCWSA personnel, with preventive
maintenance routinely performed. The most recent company to perform preventive maintenance
on this generator system was Engines, Inc. located in Northampton, Pennsylvania. Their work
reports on this generator system, from July 2011 through December 2014, indicate no major
issues involving the generator. Their last work report was an annual inspection visit with full
service on December 31, 2014, and no issues were noted.
The generator system generally consists of the diesel engine/generator, switchgear panel and
load bank. The generator has approximately 262 hours of run time. The generator is fully
operational and was regularly serviced up until 2014, when modifications to the BCWSA water
system rendered this Water Booster Station unnecessary.
Photographs of the equipment, taken around August 2015, are included on the following pages.
