Foreword: British Design | Global Solutions
ECOLED is a British company designing and
manufacturing exceptional LED lighting products.
We have over 20 years experience specifically
with LED technology, which has enabled our
specialist team to develop an outstanding
range of stunning LED luminaires utilising only
the most cutting edge technology.
We employ Chip On Board (COB) LED arrays
for optimum performance. In addition, many
of our products are dimmable either by
simple switch or advanced systems, facilitating
total lighting control. We work in partnership
with lighting & interior designers, engineers,
electrical contractors, industrial partners and
more recently we have established a UK
network of accredited ECOLED stocking dealers.
We focus on three key areas of lighting:

Most of our products come with a five year
guarantee. All of our products comply with
current building regulations.
The extensive ECOLED portfolio is designed in
our UK factory and manufacturing is carried
out at our global production facilities. This
allows us to be extremely competitive and
ensures every item we release is sophisticated,
reliable and affordable.

Environment and EcoLED
Greater Lifespan
A typical incandescent bulb has a lifespan of
around 2,000 hours
ECOLED lights are expected to have an
optimum performance life of over 50,000 hours
with little degradation of light output. That is
17 years in an average household (based on
8 hours per day average use), ten times the
lifespan of an compact fluorescent and
25 times longer than a filament lamp.
ECOLED lamps are solid state making them
extremely robust and virtually eliminating
maintenance or replacements.
Cool and Safe
ECOLED lights generate very little heat therefore
providing secondary energy and cost reduction
benefits such as reducing the workload of air
conditioning systems.
LED Energy Savings
Mercury Free and Eco-Friendly
Unlike compact fluorescents that need careful
handling on disposal, ECOLED Lights are
mercury free, manufactured in recycled
materials as much as possible and may then
be in turn recycled at the end of their life.

Efficiency – ECOLED vs Halogen
Many built environments require lights to be
running 24 hours per day in common areas,
often using 50W Halogen units that are
expensive to run, inefficient in their ratio
of power to output and require frequent
maintenance and replacement. ECOLEDs
typically use 80-90% less energy than a 50W
halogen thus even in small installations, the
savings and return on investment is obvious.

Lighting is now part of how we decorate and
with the versatility of LED we are able to bring
colour and varied programming into a project.
Colour Temperature
Modern LED luminaires now offer a full colour
spectrum as well as the comfort of the familiar
‘Warm White’ glow of the old incandescent bulb.
Dimming
Many of our products can be dimmed using
a dimmable driver and a suitable dimming
controller.

Intensity (Lumens)
The lumen is a measure of the power of light
as perceived by the human eye. A 100W
incandescent light bulb produces roughly
1200 lumens, about 12 lumens per watt.
Our LEDs typically produce over 80 lumens
per watt thus producing over 6 times the
light output for the same amount of power.
Efficiencies are improving every year.
Colour Rendering
The Colour Rendering Index (CRI) is used to
measure how accurately a lighting source
renders the color of objects when compared to
sunlight. Sunlight is defined to have a CRI of
100.
EcoLEDs have very high CRI values making
them the most suitable technology for general
lighting today.

Patented, inspirational design incorporating
the latest LED array technology; this entry level
5W downlight is compact, energy efficient and
maintenance free.
Featuring the same LED array as ZEP1, this
recessed LED down light has a die-cast powder
coated aluminium body and deep cone
reflector for anti-glare. With 350° rotation and
30° tilt available, the ZEP1E is the perfect
adjustable companion to the fixed version.
New for 2012/2013 the ZEP1E will be available
in Brushed Stainless or Chrome finishes.

This is a unique plaster-in trimless design.

EcoLED Flexi-Strip
Flexi-Strip is a range of self-adhesive LED light tape allowing the creation of stunning lighting
effects. It can be easily attached to most surfaces and provides maintenance-free background
lighting in almost any interior or exterior application.
How To Specify ECOLED’s Flexi-Strip
A Flexi-Strip part code will typically read as
GIBVF60WSWW. By dividing up the part code
you can specify your requirement as follows:

Power Guide
According to the number of LEDs per metre each
type has a different power consumption in Watts.
To decide on the Power Supply Unit required,
simply add up the number of metres on the
circuit and multiply that by the Wattage per
metre to calculate the total load. Then, specify
the Power Supply Unit with an output value
greater than that number. So, 60 LEDS per metre
in single colour uses 5W per metre. Three metres
= 15W therefore, an 18W PSU will be required as
the load is too high for the 12W. Below we show
the approximate Watts per metre of the different
types of Flexi-Strip. Please note all EcoLED FlexiStrip runs on 12Volts DC unless otherwise stated.

EcoLED Flexi-Strip
Cutting & Configuring
Flexi-Strip can be cut and configured to suit
many different applications. 30 LEDs per metre
can be cut every 100mm, 60 LEDs per metre
every 50mm and 120 LEDs per metre every
25mm. Care should be taken by the installer
to re-seal and protect the integrity of the joins
when cutting and configuring the IP versions.

AMP CALCULATIONS
Amps = Watts divided by Volts.
BEAM ANGLE
Is the point at which intensity drops to 50 per
cent of maximum centre reading measured
in degrees of the full angle.
CE Mark
Is a mandatory conformity mark for products
placed or sold in the European Economic area.
COB (Chip on Board)
Where the LED is mounted directly to a
prepared printed circuit board.
COLOUR TEMPERATURE
Defines the colour of radiation and reported
in units of Kelvin (K)
CONSTANT CURRENT
A current dependant (LED) not voltage
regulated.
CONSTANT VOLTAGE
A voltage controlled LED or PSU.
CRI
A numeric evaluation of the accuracy (in
relation to ‘Daylight’ at 100) of light sources.
DIFFUSER
A translucent material placed in front of light to
soften highlights and shadows. Reduce
contrast and increase beam angle.
DIMMER
An electric or electronic device that can
reduce a fixtures’ brightness usually with some
loss of colour temperature.
DOWNLIGHT
A type of ceiling luminaire usually fully
recessed where most of the light is directed
