Camcorder Batteries for Digital Camcorders
The “Juice Box” is an extremely small, yet very powerful external battery pack
designed for 7.2v type digital camcorders. Depending on the model, the lightweight
(1.6 or 2.8 lbs.) no-memory, Juice Box will power your camcorder for up to 5 hours
- equal to 4 or 5 on-board batteries. All models, except the MX-4S and MX-5S,
provide power via your camcorder’s supplied AC adapter cable plugged into the
multi-pin connector on the battery. They all clip onto your waist via a military belt
clip. The MX-4S and 5S contain a dummy battery (NPF-530) with a coiled cord.
BCQ-082 Quick Charger can be ordered separately.
Available for Sony VX-1000 (JB-Series), Panasonic AG-EZ1/EZ-30 (MX-EZ Series) and Canon XL-1
(MX-C Series). The MX-4S and MX-5S fit the DCR-TRV900, DCR-PC100 and DSR-PD100A.

The NP-L46 is a 14.4V 46W NP-type lithium-ion battery pack that is a
direct replacement for nicad NP-style batteries. The future of battery technology, it is 40% lighter and 50% more powerful than the traditional NP-style
nicad batteries they replace. As it has no memory effect, there is no need for
discharging, and since you do not need any new mounts or locking systems, it
can be used with all your existing cameras and equipment.
■ The NP-L46 has a built-in 5 LED array,
giving quick and precise indication of the
remaining battery capacity. It shows
remaining capacity in 20% increments as
100%, 80%, 60%, 40% and 20%. A
sixth level is produced by the final LED
flashing when the battery capacity falls
below 10%. These accurate readings are
determined not by simple voltage, but by
the built-in microprocessor knowing each
initial charged status and calculating from
the subsequent discharge/running conditions.
■ Fifty percent more power than standard
NiCad NP-type batteries reduces battery
changes and the number of batteries needed
on location. Used together, two NP-L46,

IDX is a manufacturer of broadcast video power
systems, including battery packs, AC camera
adapters, battery chargers and battery analysis
and management tools.
IDX's nicad batteries are based around the
industry standard 12v NP-1 batteries. IDX
uses only premium Sanyo cells in all their batteries for longevity and reliability. IDX is also one of
the pioneers of rechargeable Lithium-Ion and Metal
Nickel Hydride (NiMH) packs. Both in the standard NP-style format, metal nickel hydride packs
have twice the power as nicad packs, exhibit very little memory effect and can be charged in the same charger as a
nicad pack. Lithium-ion batteries have fifty percent more power than a nicad pack, have absolutely no memory effect
and is half the weight of either a nicad or nickel metal hydride battery.
When it comes to charging batteries, most of IDX's chargers use a unique digital sensing system to detect full charge level.
This system ensures that the charging process is not vulnerable to such environmental conditions as ambient temperature.
Most of IDX quick chargers utilize Negative Delta V sensing and a charge rate of up to 1C. This is to prevent over-discharge and shortening of the battery's life.

IDX Lithium-ion Battery Chargers represent the very latest in IDX charging technology. The optimum electronic charge
regime, combined with the mechanical needs of rugged, compact and portable systems, are the cornerstone of the IDX
design. From the entry-level KL Sequential Chargers series to the IDX trademark ION-4 Simultaneous Charger, IDX can
meets the needs of all charging applications. As lithium-ion is memory-free, batteries can be charged from any state,
regardless of the batteries’ charge status. Each IDX NP-L46 Lithium-ion battery has its own built-in microprocessor
which enables direct communication with the chargers program to individually select, for each battery, the correct charge
program specific for that battery.
KL-2/KL-4/KL-4 PLUS
2 and 4-Channel Sequential Quick Chargers
The KL-2 can charge two Lithium-Ion batteries in 4 hours, while the KL-4
and KL-4 PLUS can charge four batteries in 6 hours. This is accomplished
using a newly-developed Full Power Charging (FPC) method. FPC uses the on-board computer inside each IDX
Lithium-Ion battery pack to communicate with the charger for the fastest charging available. The KL-4 PLUS adds a
60 watt power supply and can power equipment while charging batteries.

Full Power Charging (FPC) method works like this: The charger charges both batteries at the same time, allocating most of the power to
the battery in the first slot. When the battery in the first slot reaches an 80% capacity point, the charger switches to distribute most of
the power to the battery in the second slot. Any remaining power is directed to the opposite battery. The ability of Lithium-Ion to take a

Choosing the Right Battery
Ni-Cad, NiMH or Li-ION?
Since the first television camera left the studio, video professionals
have consistently identified batteries as the most problematic aspect
of ENG/EFP. In the intervening two decades, both video and battery
technologies have dramatically improved. The latest interactive
microprocessor battery and charger systems are very reliable, delivering consistent high performance and eliminating all the problems
associated with earlier systems. Yet, the most recent surveys indicate
that battery problems still head the list of many video professionals.
The explanation for this apparent paradox inevitably involves a misapplication. It seems that some video technicians will spend quite
some time carefully analyzing the specifications and applicability of
cameras and recorders, yet treat the battery as if it were a lens cap
that has no bearing on operation or performance. In some cases, it is
assumed that the battery offered by the equipment manufacturer
must be correct for the application. This assumption is wrong. As
each new generation of camcorder is developed, many equipment
manufacturers merely continue to offer the older technology battery
from previous models, without regard to optimum compatibility or
major technological advances. As an example, a battery developed in
the 1970s for a 3⁄4˝ VCR is still being offered by several manufacturers with their latest CCD camcorders, which actually specify a higher
voltage battery.
A battery should be selected with the same care and analysis as the
other components in the system. There is no excuse for jeopardizing
an entire video operation with an improper battery, when it is really
quite simple to determine the optimum battery for any application.
How do you choose the right battery? Do you
choose it by size, weight, voltage, brand, chemistry
or what? Your answer should be, "by application."
Just because a battery lights up your camera, doesn’t
mean that it’s right for your application.
Considerations should include shooting time, camera draw, lighting draw and camera balance. The
final consideration should be the cost of purchase
divided by the years of guaranteed service/performance.

Cameramen have consistently indicated that battery change disruptions can be minimized by using a battery supplying a run-time of at least
11/2 hours. Careful consideration should be given to the power requirements of the equipment and the requirements of the shoot. Consider
not just tape length, but the time the camera will be “hot”. Battery run-time can be easily approximated by dividing the watt hour rating of
the battery by the power consumption (in watts) of the equipment. For example, a 25 watt camera will operate for approximately 2 1/4 hours
on a 60 watt hour Pro Pac, 13/4 hours on a Trimpac 14 and 1 hour on a Proformer.

➤ Cold Battery Safety Mode: Another
potential hazard is charging a cold battery.
Most batteries and chargers ignore the warnings from cell manufacturers that fast charging batteries below 40°F can create hydrogen gas and injurious explosions. To prevent
this, all Anton/Bauer batteries have a cold
temperature sensor that triggers a ‘Cold
Battery Safety Mode’ in the charger at
potentially hazardous temperatures. The
charger then automatically adjusts charge
parameters to prevent hydrogen gas generation and ensures a safe full 100% charge.
➤ Balance Mode: For a variety of reasons, a
battery can become imbalanced. This severely limits the available capacity of the battery,
since the equipment will stop when the least
charged cell is depleted. Most chargers cannot recognize an imbalanced battery, thus
giving the appearance that the battery is

Anton/Bauer’s Gold Mount Quick-Change Mounting System is the standard of the
industry. For over 20 years, professionals have appreciated the versatility and reliability of the Gold Mount, and it has been adopted by the vast majority of broadcasters worldwide. In fact, every major camera manufacturer, including Sony, Panasonic,
JVC, Hitachi and Ikegami offer the Gold Mount as original equipment.
Anton/Bauer manufactures custom Gold Mounts for every major Video manufacturer. Many even ship their camcorders
automatically with the Gold Mount already installed, while some offer the Gold Mount as an option. For camera/camcorders that do not already have a Gold Mount, Anton/Bauer offers a complete array of Gold Mounts for virtually every

PowerTap Receptacle
Automatique
This exclusive feature allows a camera mounted light, wireless
microphone or other DC accessory to be powered from the camera
battery. The integral cable of the popular Ultralight 2 includes a
PowerTap plug that mates directly with the PowerTap receptacle in
the gold Mount. The PowerTap is rated at 10 amps and is internally
fused for safety.
This optional feature of the Gold Mount is now standard with many
new cameras. A special power circuit in the Gold Mount mates with
the VTR roll signal in the camera/camcorder, allowing an Ultralight
to turn On/Off automatically in coordination with the VTR. This
assures that every shot is free from the objectionable shadows caused
by overhead lights, yet battery drain is kept to a minimum.
InterActive Viewfinder “Fuel Gauge”
The Gold Mount includes the special InterActive contact that transmits the fuel computer signal from the DIGITAL battery to the
viewfinder. “Fuel Gauge” included in many cameras/camcorders.
Future Compatibility
Older box style battery holders, the Gold Mount is fully compatible
with the many different sizes and shapes of the new cell technologies

What is the QR-XL1-C and How Does it Work?
The QR-XL1-C is a “7/14 Gold Mount Bracket” designed to mount a battery on the
Canon XL1.
■ Patented design of the “Gold Mount”
bracket gives the XL-1 a universal
mounting system with access to the
full line of “Gold Mount Batteries”.
Although, based on size and capacity
needs of the XL-1, the ProFormer and
HyTron 50 would be the primary recommendations.
■ The QR-XL1-C has a DC to DC
converter built in. The converter
takes the 14.4 volts provided by the
ProFormer or HyTron 50 battery and
converts it to 7.2 volts which is the
appropriate voltage for the XL-1.
■ However, the QR-XL1-C maintains
14.4 volts in the “Powertap” connector so that a camera mounted light,
such as the Ultralight 2 can be powered from the same battery.
■ The Ultralight 2-20 mounts easily to
the shoe mount on the Canon XL1.

The PAG Powermen are uniquely styled 7ah NiCad battery packs with
many original features. They provide a robust and reliable source of
power, can be worn in several ways and are available in two voltages.

Run-Time Information System
By displaying accurate battery run-time information (remaining battery
power in hours, minutes and seconds), PAG’s System RTI far surpasses all
other battery status devices and display systems. Using a patented electronic
interrogation system for instantaneous battery status recognition, the System
RTI provides the world's first truly accurate Battery Run-Time Information
System for all broadcast cameras — regardless of age or manufacturer.
How it works:
➤ A patented two-wire system interrogates the battery during use,
taking account of its state of charge and the energy being consumed. The remaining running time is displayed in hours, minutes
and seconds in the camera viewfinder and is instantaneously updated
against any change of load. As the load characteristics are changed,
for example with the addition or subtraction of a Video light, the
run-time is instantly recalculated and displayed.
➤ When switching to Standby mode, RTI assumes that the power
being consumed prior to standby will be resumed when the camera
is next switched to Record. The run-time available for that power
consumption will be displayed, with only standby current being
subtracted. In this standby situation, the display characters change
to gray.
System RTI Paglok Connector
PAG-developed microcomputer technology is embodied in the System RTI Paglok Connector, fitted to the camera. A
Video overlay signal intercepts the composite Video signal of the viewfinder routed internally or externally from the
Paglok connector, without interfering with the camera electronics. The Paglok connector incorporates modular interchangeable moulding for RTI and Paglight ML On/Off switches and for the 2.1mm Paglight ML socket. This allows
you to position them in the most convenient place for operation. The RTI Paglok Connector also features a unique Antisurge Cold Filament Prewarm switch, which can be controlled automatically from the camera's Record function. When
the camera is switched to Standby, the camera light is automatically turned off.

battery capacity and recovering lost performance. Whether on location or in the workshop, the MC124 represents the very latest in portable battery management technology. Digitally communicates with System RTI batteries and uses the data received to
determine and display the most appropriate program for the battery.
■ RTI battery is acknowledged by 'RTI' appearing on the Level 1 LCD screen. When an RTI battery is being charged or discharged, the Level
1 screen displays the battery's available capacity. When the MC124 'Hold to View capacity' switch is pressed, the Level 2 screen displays the

Presumably the most versatile line of chargers available today, the AR (AutoRanging) Series are micro-computer controlled fast-chargers that operate
under the control of PAG ‘s ACS (Advanced Charging System) to fast-charge
the newest generation of NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride), as well as NiCad
batteries of virtually any manufacturer. Charge batteries within the ranges

Nickel-cadmium batteries which have been over-discharged may
be rejected by the charger and indicated as faulty. Batteries in such
condition are unsuitable for fast-charging. To overcome this condition, the AR series chargers
incorporate an ancillary recovery charge program. The selector switch for this program is located on the front panel, and its operation initially allows the user to select the required output
channel. When the recovery charge has been completed, the AR Series will automatically enter
the fast-charge program, which runs until the battery is fully charged. If a battery is severely
faulty and has not responded to treatment by the recovery charge program, it will be indicated
as faulty when the fast-charge program is entered.

When the fast-charging phase has been completed, the AR series chargers may switch over automatically to its balancing
charge program. Investigations by PAG have shown that imbalance between cells (caused by slight differences in cell
charge acceptance and capacity) can be cumulative without the ability to address cell imbalance. The duration of the
balancing charge is dependent upon information gained on individual cell condition during the initial analysis phase of the fast-charge program. A battery in any state of charge may be applied to the
AR series. If the PAG ACS determines that a battery is in a satisfactory state of balance, it will not
have the above balancing charge applied.

Ideal for use with the AR124NP Fast-Charger, the D124NP is designed to retrieve the
available capacity of any 12v, 13.2v and 14.4v NP-type nicad battery. No matter how
carefully batteries are used, most will benefit from a complete and accurate discharge
throughout their capacity range — especially if the battery has not been selected to match
the camera's preset cut-off voltage. Continuous use of 12v batteries with cameras that cut off at
between 11v and 11.5v, will eventually cause permanent reduction in the batteries' available capacity.
■ When selecting a battery, it is important to
choose one that has an end-of-discharge
voltage matching, as closely as possible, the
cut-off voltage of the camera with which it
is to be used.
■ Connect to the AR124NP Fast-Charger, to
provide an automatic system that will fastcharge batteries as they complete their discharge cycles.
■ All nicad batteries are deemed to be fully
and correctly discharged at one volt per
cell. Therefore, a 12v battery would be
fully discharged at ten volts, a 13.2v battery at eleven volts and a 14.4v battery at
twelve volts. Rather than discard the failing
battery, the PAG D124NP should be used
to discharge the cells in the battery accurately to one volt per cell, a process which
will retrieve the batteries’ available capacity.

less running time, whereas a 14.4v battery,
initially providing longer running time, will
be over-discharged, causing cell reversal and

UNDERSTANDING BATTERY TECHNOLOGY
To make the right choice when purchasing any DC power product, it is important that you have a basic understanding
of the most important component — the battery. Despite the exciting promise of the future, outstanding and proven
cell performance is available now. Before deciding which brand or style of power you will buy, it is best to decide which
type of battery will best suit your power needs. This decision is made simpler by the fact that there are only two main
classes of battery types commonly used for auxiliary Video power sources. These battery types are lead acid and NiCads.
Lead Acid Cells
NiCad Cells
Used in Video applications primarily based on cost, lead acid
batteries are extremely inexpensive and easily manufactured.
They are durable, can withstand poor charge habits and high
rate discharges, have no memory effects and exhibit a long
storage life when subjected to a constant or pulsed “float
charge”. However, despite these admirable qualities, lead acid
cells have substantial deficiencies in a Video environment.
They have a low energy-to-weight ratio, short life cycle
(especially under the power hungry environments of Video
lighting), and they exhibit substantial voltage depression and
poor voltage regulation during discharge. Because the voltage
of the pack is continually sloping downward during discharge, equipment is subject to early shutdown, and maintaining consistent light intensity and color temperature is
nearly impossible. Lead acid packs also cannot be stored discharged for extended time periods without damage due to
internal sulfidation. Regardless of the charge state prior to
storage, periodic charging during storage is necessary to preserve cell function.
When charged properly, NiCad cells deliver outstanding performance, even under extremes of hot or cold. Another important characteristic of NiCad cells is their natural electrochemical superiority.
This allows the delivery of stable voltage, with minimal voltage drop,
even under heavy discharge loads. The result is superior discharge
performance. For example, when powering Video lights, color temperature stays consistent during discharge, and premature equipment
shutdown is avoided when powering professional cameras. NiCad
cells also have an extremely high power-to-weight ratio, weighing
20% to 50% less than other types of equivalent power. Wear a 20 lb.
lead acid pack for a day, then compare it to a NiCad pack with similar capacity. You will understand the difference. The only barrier to
the exclusive use of NiCads is their cost. Expensive raw materials,
sophisticated engineering requirements and the manufacturing complexity of peripherals such as chargers, make manufacturing NiCad
cells more expensive than lead acid. NRG is one of the few companies
that manufacturers products using high-grade NiCad cells at a price
realistic enough for a broad range of videographers.

Voltage
An important consideration when purchasing a power source is not
only its cost and performance, but how long it will last. If you plan
to use the battery infrequently, its life may not be of much concern,
and the initial cost savings of a lead acid system may make it an
attractive choice. When battery life is averaged out to a cost-percharge, however, a NiCad based system not only provides greater
comfort and performance, but may actually cost less, as well.
Another important thing to know when choosing a battery is the
voltage you will need. Professional equipment, such as an industrial
or broadcast level 3-CCD cameras, generally have a high shutoff
voltage (usually 10.9v to 12v). This high shutoff voltage prevents the
equipment from fully accessing a 12v battery’s capacity, since the
equipment will shut off before the pack is fully drained. Using a
13.2v pack generally allows equipment to fully access all the capacity
of the pack and prevents early shutdown. In many cases, it also permits lighting to be used simultaneously from the same power source.
Discharge Characteristics
This is important, for example, when powering lights. When using
lead acid batteries, the color temperature and intensity of the lighting
will be lower and continually shifting — requiring higher wattage
lamps to be used to obtain the light intensity necessary. In addition,
footage shot with a fully charged pack will show differences in intensity
and coloration from shots near the end of a discharge. Thanks to
stable voltage and low voltage drop under load, lights powered from
NiCads provide a much purer and more intense light. This often
allows lower lamp wattages to be utilized for increased operating
time. Cameras benefit, as well, since a NiCad pack takes longer to
reach the voltage point at which they (cameras) power down.

The discharge profile of a cell is as critical to the usable run-time of a
pack as capacity. This term refers to the way the voltage of different
battery types drop during discharge. Even if the capacity of a battery
were unlimited, if its voltage falls below the level your equipment
needs to operate, its power would be unusable. When a battery starts
to discharge, the voltage of the pack drops continuously as the pack
empties. In general, the voltage of lead acid batteries tends to constantly shift downward in a sloping fashion. NiCad cells, on the other
hand, tend to discharge with a stable and flat voltage profile until full
discharge has been reached. Only then does the voltage drop rapidly.

Some equipment, such as 3-CCD cameras, shut off at a high
voltage, preventing the full use of a pack's power In such cases,
a 13.2v pack can make a significant difference in running time.
Memory
Nothing in the battery industry has been more misunderstood
than the word “memory”. The coined term given to a phenomenon
that is correctly called voltage depression, “memory” is the explanation given when a battery appears to be fully charged, but then
gives out after ten minutes. As explained before, when a battery
is powering a load, its voltage gradually drops. The drop plotted
over time is called a discharge curve — “memory” or voltage
depression is an abnormal dip in this curve. Now, while not scientifically proven, “memory” is caused primarily by subjecting a
NiCad cell to overcharge for a period of time. Overcharge occurs
when a charger fails to efficiently sense charge completion. A
good example of this is manufacturers that save on battery costs
by using inexpensive cells designed for slow charge rates (10
hours or greater), but then cave into consumer demand for shorter
charge times and pair these batteries with rapid chargers that
recharge cells in three or four hours. The excessive rate of charge,
combined with inaccurate methods for sensing charge completion, has probably been the cause of voltage depression in many
users’ packs.

Cell Capacities
Some people fear using these higher voltage packs on their equipment. It
is important to realize that while 12 volts may be specified as the input
voltage, every power supply has a wide operational latitude, in many case
as high as 16 or 17 volts. Also, when placed under a load, a 13.2v pack
drops almost immediately to around 12.5v – a perfect operational voltage for professional equipment. And, while it is always wise to check
with the original manufacturer of your equipment, the performance of
almost any deck or dockable will be safely improved by utilizing a 13.2v
pack. On the other hand, the 13.2v pack may not be a good choice for
consumer and lower-grade industrial cameras, or for powering lighting.
These types of equipment are generally able to fully drain a 12v pack,
and the added cost and weight of a 13.2v system is unjustified, as little
increase in performance will be noted.

Have you ever wondered why a so-called “two-hour” battery only lasted 20 minutes, or why a 13-amp lead acid battery only runs an 8-amp
load for 40 minutes? It seems logical to expect a battery rated at 13
amps to power a 13-amp load for one hour, or a 1-amp load for 13
hours. In most cases, however, this conclusion would be incorrect due
to the real-world physics of a battery during discharge. During discharge, a battery’s chemical makeup and internal resistance play a vital
role in determining what the actual capacity of the battery will be
under a particular load. The more quickly power is drawn from a battery, the lower its voltage will drop, and the less efficient it will become
at delivering power.

Most people consider the amp rating of a battery to be the most accurate indicator of its capacity. But amp rating alone is not helpful without knowing under what rate of discharge the claimed capacity was
measured, and how the battery will derate from that figure at the rate
you plan to use it. For example, if a lead acid battery was rated 20
amps at a twenty-hour rate, it would theoretically produce one amp
for each of 20 hours. If, however, you suddenly demand power typical
of the Video environment – for example, a 100 watt video light which
pulls 8.3 amps – the battery will become far less efficient at delivering
its power. It may now only produce a small amount of its originally
rated power, as little as 10 or 12 amps. Thus, a light that “should” run
for 2-1/2 hours might, instead, run for much less than two.
Since most manufacturers publish amp ratings based on slow rates of
discharge over long periods of time, you must determine what amount
of power your equipment will be using, and over what period of time
that power level will be required. To figure out what you need, first
determine the amperage or wattage draw of your equipment. Then
decide how many hours you need the equipment to operate. For
example, if your camera draws 24 watts (2 amps at 12 volts) and your
light draws 30 watts (2.5 amps at 12 volts), it is easy to estimate that
you will need about 55 watts (4.6 amps) per hour. It will, therefore, be
important not only to find a battery with 4.6 amps of capacity, but
one capable of delivering 4.6 amps over a one hour period. Always ask
a manufacturer not only for the capacity of the battery, but also its
capacity at your planned rate of discharge. To help you estimate runtimes, most manufacturers, including NRG, use a more meaningful
method of rating pack capacity: The Watt-Hour rating standard. It
will, therefore, be important not only to find a battery with 4.6 amps
of capacity, but one capable of delivering 4.6 amps over a one hour
period. Always ask a manufacturer not only for the capacity of the
battery, but also its capacity at your planned rate of discharge. Simply
put, the watt-hour rating expresses pack capacity in watts at a onehour discharge rate.

The Anchor Series is a high quality, low-cost, entry-level system for schools,

Frezzi’s lightweight Mini-Sun Gun HMI lights are a one-of-a-kind, single piece
design with the ballast in the lamp head. Very compact, they. still provide unrivaled power and performance. They are also low profile and
ergonomically designed to withstand the abuse of harsh environments
in electronic news gathering and field production applications.
The 18, 24 and 50 Watt HMI units are color balanced at 5600°K

Unique On-Camera Tri-Light
With the U-3 you’ll never have to make the compromises that you used to make with a single light source. Three individual independent light sources give you multiple lighting
(wattage) options without stopping the action. The U-3 accepts any combination of three
12v 20 watt or 35 watt lamps for a maximum of 105 watts. Add or subtract brightness
and still maintain a consistent color temperature of 3200°K. The U-3 comes complete with
three lamps (one 20 watt 20° spot and two 35 watt 40° flood lamps) , gel holder, six diffusion and daylight gels, and camera shoe and stud. Made from one piece of extruded aluminum, 2-1/2 inches deep, the U-3 is pure power and strength. No light is the world can compare with it.
■ A choice of 3 lamps allows use of 20 or
35 watt bulbs— flood or spot—in any
combination. One, two or all three lamps
can be illuminated from a simple control
panel on the back of the U-3.

Video has many advantages over film, however, the final results do not have the “film look”.
To get that “film look” when shooting video you have to have the proper amount of lighting —and
more important, position it correctly to add depth of field.
Born in Hollywood studios, but re-invented with features for video, studio and location
work, the Combo Light is an incredibly versatile softlight that can also be used a floodlight. As as a softlight it offers superluminal, but gentle diffused illumination with just
the right light/shadow contrast that is perfect for film, video, product or portrait photography. It also has adjustable sockets for short or long double-ended quartz halogen lamps
(300, 500, 750 or 1000 watts.)
To use as a flood light you simply give a strong pull to separate the flood
light from the softlight hood. No tools are needed. Now apart, you have a compact and powerful flood light that can be mounted on a light stand (using its own independent yoke) to brightly illuminate very large areas, both indoor and out. It accepts barn doors as well a unique gel holder
that converts the flood light into a large, gentle light source. Use diffusion or color gels to create the
atmosphere and mood you want.

DELTA FORCE CHARGER
Minus Delta V (-dv) Charging System for Nicad and NiMH Batteries
The Delta Force Charger will double the life of your battery. Tests have proven that it is
not unusual to achieve 1000 or more charge cycles when using a 4-stage Minus Delta V
charging method. The same tests have shown older batteries will recover substantially by
reducing crystallization and restoring the battery to near normal performance.
The heart of the Delta Force system is an advanced micro-controller
that monitors your battery’s “vital signs”—voltage, current and other
variables. When a battery is first connected, the charger will rapidly
and efficiently charge the battery to about 70% of its capacity in the
first few minutes. while the cells will absorb almost all the energy and
stay COOL. The charger then continues until the battery reaches its
characteristic Delta Slope indicating an absolute full charge. The computer senses the beginning of the slope terminating the full charge and
shifting to trickle charge. This charging method is ideal for nicad and
NiMH cells.
Delta Force chargers don’t work on the principle of sensing the heat
generated by cells to terminate a full charge. Heat sensing chargers are
not designed in the best interest of your battery. Temperature sensing
is harmful and inaccurate depending on the location of the thermistor
and climactic conditions at the location of the charge. Hot climates or
sunny versus cold can mean different charge levels. Charger manufacturers tend to “cook” the batteries under normal conditions to guarantee a full charge. Any extended temperature over 113°F will significantly shorten the life of the battery.
