― No Boundary in Medicine ―
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It is an honor and a pleasure for me to invite you to attend the upcoming
5th Asian Congress of Abdominal Radiology, ACAR 2015, that will take
place in Hamamatsu, Japan, from June 19 - 21, 2015. The ACAR is Biennial
Meeting of the Asian Society of Abdominal Radiology (ASAR), and has a
short but successful history starting in Miyazaki, Japan, in 2007. The high
quality of the educational and scientific content and the expertise of the
speakers and moderators have been the clues for the success.
I would like to put a phrase “No Boundary in Medicine” representing this ACAR 2015 for two reasons. The
first is the establishment of ASAR-ESGAR-ESUR-SAR union. ASAR had the collaboration agreement with
SAR (Society of Abdominal Radiology) in 2012, and the 4th ACAR in Kaohsiung had an honorary guest
speaker from SAR in 2013. It was so fortunate that ASAR had the collaboration agreement with ESGAR
(European Society of Abdominal and Gastrointestinal Radiology) in 2013, and with ESUR (European Society
of Urogenital Radiology) in 2014 as well. We are quite lucky to get an opportunity to have seven Honorary
Invited speakers from SAR, ESGAR and ESUR as well as nine distinguished invited speakers from outside Asia
in this ACAR 2015. From inside Asia, we have 17 excellent invited speakers in Radiology fields. The world
class lecture sessions given by these distinguished lecturers will provide you the most exciting advanced
knowledge of abdominal radiology.
The second reason is that we Radiologists respect Pathology. We invited three distinguished pathologists
from outside and inside Asia to give us the most advanced knowledge of pathology and or molecular
pathology. In addition to this, annual meeting of JSAR, the co-jointed meeting, has scientific sessions consist
of case reports with strict image-pathologic correlation joined by pathologic experts. As President of JSAR,
I recommend you to join the JSAR sessions as well. You can feel there is no boundary between radiology
and pathology. I am sure you will enjoy it. The collaboration with JSAR will guarantee a broad and generous
exchange of ideas, experiences and knowledge between speakers and participants.
I should remind you that the ASAR Executive Council members and ACAR Program Committee members
have designed a new educational program , “Educational Seminar”, for young abdominal radiologists in Asia.
We start with imaging of liver and kidney this year, and hopefully will continue focusing on each abdominal
organ every year. We have 12 lecturers for this educational seminar from all over Asia. This may be the third
“No Boundary “ in Asia. I would like to add that the young investigators travel award is established in this
ACAR 2015, which will be for who submitted excellent abstract(s) for scientific papers or posters.　I invite you to be part of the most complete and up-to-date meeting on abdominal radiology in 2015. I
promise all of you that the scientific program will provide you with the most advanced knowledge and the
cutting edge in abdominal radiology.
The meeting venue will be City of Hamamatsu, Japan, which has a privileged position on central pacific
coast. In northeast there is Mt. Fuji which is the highest mountain throughout Japan and the symbol of
Japan. You can recognize this beautiful mountain in the poster of ACAR 2015.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I promise you to prepare a memorable meeting for you all and I
hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you to Hamamatsu, Japan.

Welcome Message
Dear Colleagues,
It is a great honor and a pleasure for me, as the 5th President of
Asian Society of Abdominal Radiology (ASAR), to welcome all of
you to the 5th Asian Congress of Abdominal Radiology (ACAR
2015) in the beautiful city of Hamamatsu.
The ACAR is a biennial congress of ASAR, which now in its 8th
year has grown from strength to strength. With a strong academic
program that caters for all specialties involved in abdominal imaging. ACAR has become
the conference to attend attracting delegates from the whole Asian region. This year the
organizing committee led by Prof. Hiromu Mori continues with our efforts to promote excellence
in abdominal radiology. The program of ACAR 2015 focuses on advanced knowledge and
technology in diagnosis and intervention of abdominal diseases.
The Organizing Committee of ACAR 2015 is working extremely hard to invite many outstanding
experts in the field of abdominal imaging to provide a three-day program specifically designed to
cater to the needs of abdominal radiologists and residents. The team aims to put together a truly
exciting program not only for abdominal imaging professionals, but also for young radiologists
and radiological residents. With a fantastic program and prominent faculty, this year’s Congress
will be enjoyable for one and all. Over the years we have set up a platform for the Asian
abdominal radiology professionals to exchange their experience through ACAR activities. We
continue to believe that with knowledge comes empowerment, with communication comes
inspiration. I would like to thank all esteemed professionals and faculty who so generously share
their time, expertise, and knowledge with all of us at this important event. My especial gratitude
goes to Prof. Hiromu Mori and Prof. Yasuo Takehara, and the organizing committee. I would also
like to thank you for attending, and I look forward to meeting each and every one of you over
the three days and I sincerely hope your experience in Hamamatsu is a pleasant and enjoyable

Welcome Message
From the meeting president of JSAR 2015
I am pleased and honored to host the 29th annual meeting of
JSAR (JSAR 2015) in Hamamatsu.
JSAR has achieved a huge success in promoting post-graduate
radiological education and trainings dedicated to abdominal
imaging in Japan. The presented paper is fully discussed by
both expert radiologists and pathologists so that the qualities of
radiological-pathological correlations are warranted, which highlights the vital portion of this
meeting. The scientific content of the meeting will provide up-to-date information in several
abdominal topics in an integrated multimodality perspective.
It is also my pleasure that Hamamatsu can host ACAR 2015 at the same period of time with
presidency of Dr. Hiromu Mori. The conjoined meetings will offer more than 40 lecture sessions
and approximately 100 scientific presentations including posters. Besides an attractive scientific
content and learning of integrated knowledge and cutting edge techniques, we hope that all
participants will take this opportunity to get acquainted with many colleagues and friends from
Asia.
Hamamatsu is a city of creative manufacturing. People in this area traditionally embrace the spirit
of challenge, which has cultivated the creative culture that produced many innovators. Some of
the world’s leading companies producing automobiles, motorcycles, musical instruments, and
textiles as well as high-tech companies are located here. Hamamatsu is also a popular tourist
destination that offers a variety of places of interests particularly in the vicinities of Lake Hamana.
Please do not miss broiled eel one of the most beloved cuisine in Japan.

Professor Michel Claudon conducted his medical career at the
University of Nancy, France, and has been serving successively
as chairperson of the Pediatric Radiology Department (20002012) and the General Radiology Department since 2012. Since
2005, he has been a member of the Research Unit “Adaptative
diagnostic and interventional Imaging”, labeled by the French
National Research Institute.
After the postgraduate training in Radiology, Professor MartiBonmati obtained the Thesis of Graduation in Medicine and Surgery
(Ph.D.) with the Extraordinary Premium of Thesis (1991). He is now
Director of the Medical Imaging Department at La Fe University and
Polytechnic Hospital, Valencia, since 2010, and also Chief of the
Radiology Department at Hospital Quirón in Valencia, since 1997.
His special areas of interest are imaging biomarkers and image
processing, imaging biobanks, abdominal imaging, advanced clinical
applications of MRI, and clinical management in radiology.
Professor Michel Claudon served as President of the World
Federation of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (WFUMB)
(2008-10), President of the French Academic College of
Radiology (2009-12), President of the European Society of
Radiology (ESUR)(2012-14), and is now serving as Chair of the
Ultrasound WG of the European Society of Radiology.
He has been President of the European Society of Magnetic
Resonance in Medicine and Biology (ESMRMB, Fellow), of the
Spanish Society of Radiology (SERAM, Gold Medal), the Spanish
Society of Abdominal Radiology (SEDIA) and the European Society
of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology (ESGAR, Fellow). He is
also Fellow of the International Cancer Imaging Society (ICIS) and
Director of the Association for the Development and Investigation
of MR (ADIRM); a non-profit institution developed to impulse the
relationships between universities and the MR phenomenon.
His fields of interest mainly include diagnostic genito-urinary
radiology and pediatric radiology, technical advances in
ultrasound (contrast-enhanced ultrasound, volume imaging).
He published 144 peer reviewed Articles, contributed to 15
chapters of books and presented 125 invited conferences in
international meetings.
He is the Director of the Research Group on Biomedical Imaging
(GIBI230) within La Fe Health Research Center, an institution
belonging to the Spanish Research Network at the Ministry of
Science and Technology. The group focuses on preclinical animal
imaging experiments. He has co-founding an SME (Quantitative
Imaging Biomarkers in Medicine, QUIBIM), an innovative company
specially dedicated to medical image processing, extraction
and measurement of imaging biomarkers for the clinical routine,
research projects or clinical trials and medical imaging workflows.
Professor Michel Claudon has been received as Honorary Fellow
of the AIUM (American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine) in
2009, of the KSUM (Korean Society of Ultrasound) in 2012, and
of the ACR (American College of Radiology) in 2014.
Professor Michel Claudon contributed to build the relationship
between ESUR and ASAR by accepting and signing the contract
of the collaboration agreement between ESUR and ASAR when
he was serving as President of ESUR on 2013.
Professor Marti-Bonmati has been serving as Associate Editor of
European Radiology (Magnetic Resonance) and Radiology (Computer
Applications).
According to the above achievement and contribution, Dr. Michel
Claudon was named Honorary Fellow by ASAR.
Professor Luis Marti-Bonmati contributed to build the relationship
between ESGAR and ASAR by accepting and signing the contract of
the collaboration agreement between ESGAR and ASAR on 2014 as
ESGAR President.
According to the above achievement and contribution, Dr. Luis
Marti-Bonmati was named honorary Fellow by ASAR.

Yves YM Menu
Paris/France
Professor Yves MENU had started his career as Resident in
Neurosurgery, Endocrinology, Radiology, Paris University and
Assistance Publique Hôpitaux de Paris in 1977. He was boardcertified in 1981 as Radiologist, and was promoted as Professor
of Radiology at Beaujon Hospital, Clichy in 1989. Since 1990, he
has been serving as Professor and Chairperson of Department
of Radiology at Bichat Hospital, Paris and Paris VII University(3
years), Beaujon Hospital, Clichy and Paris XI University(10 years),
and current Saint Antoine Hospital, Paris and Pierre & Marie Curie
University (Paris VI)(7 years).
Scientific interests relate to Gastrointestinal & Abdominal Radiology,
Oncologic Imaging, Chest Radiology, Emergency Radiology,
Musculoskeletal Radiology. He published numerous publications
including 191 refereed original articles in English, 290 educational
articles in French and in English, and 1 book and 19 book chapters
. He has been a guest speaker of 350 invited lectureships in Europe
and overseas.
He has been serving as reviewer for RADIOLOGY with awards
of “RADIOLOGY editor’s recognition award for reviewing with
distinction” at 2010. He was awarded as Honorary Member of
Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), Tunisian Society
of Radiology, Romanian Society of Radiology, and Swiss Society
of Radiology. He was awarded as Gold Medalist of the European
Society of Radiology (ESR). He was appointed as the associate
editor of Body Computed Tomography of RADIOLOGY in 2012 and
the associate editor of European Radiology in 2015.
Professor Yves MENU has served as President of European Congress
of Radiology (ECR) 2011, Scientific Director of European Board
of Radiology (EBR) since 2013, President of European Society of
Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology (ESGAR) during 20092011, Congress President of ESGAR in 2015.
Professor Yves MENU contributed to build the relationship between
ESGAR and ASAR by accepting the proposal from JSAR about
replacement the JSAR Honorary Lectureship (1998-2008) by ASAR
Honorary Lectureship (since 2009) in ESGAR annual meeting.
According to the above achievement and contribution, Dr. Yves
Menu was named honorary Fellow by ASAR.

Dr Jae Hoon Lim is a gastrointestinal radiologist who is specialized on
hepatobiliary radiology. He has been served in university hospitals for 35
years as a clinician, educationist and researcher.
Professor Qiyong Guo, born in 1958, had graduated from China
Medical University in 1983 and had worked as Radiologist in
Shengjing hospital from 1983 to 1988. He went to Japan for
advanced study in 1988 and studied under the supervison of
Professor UCHIDA HIDEO in Nara Medical University. After 5 years'
learning, he obtained MD degree and was back to China in 1993
and continued working in Shengjing hospital and has been serving
as professor and Chairman of Radiology Department till now.
His current titles are Vice President of China Medical University,
President of Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University, Dean
of China Medical University Faculty of Radiology, Chairperson of
Department of Radiology at Shengjing Hospital of China Medical
University
He started his career at Kyunghee University Hospital in 1980 and
served for the hospital for 13 years. In 1994, he moved to Samsung
Medial Center, Sungkyunkwan University Medial School and served for
the hospital for 19 years. Now, he is working for Myongji Hospital which
is another small teaching hospital.
He is interested in radiology of the liver, biliary tract and pancreas. He
is particularly interested in radiology of biliary neoplasms. He proposed
a new morphologic classification of cholangiocarcinoma based on
pathologic-radiologic correlations. He published a book entitled, "Biliary
Tract Neoplasms ; Radiologic-Pathologic Correlations". With an insightful
vision regarding a new emerging biliary neoplastic disease, he steered
an era of biliary intraductal papillary neoplasm of the bile ducts, which is
newly recognized by WHO Classification of Neoplasms in 2010.
He is currently serving as the President of Chinese Association
of Radiologist, Chairman of Medical Imaging of China Hospital
Association. He is also the Executive member of AOSR. Professor
Guo was ex-president of China Society of Radiology and ASAR. He
had received Honorary membership award of Russian Society of
Radiology in 2009 and Honorary membership award of German
Society of Radiology in 2013, as well as he has been invited to be
the Honorary membership of ECR2016.
He published more than 160 papers in SCI journals. Subjects
are about hepatocellular carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma, oriental
cholangiohepatitis, hepatobiliary ultrasound, and pancreatic cystic
neoplasms. Some of his papers about cholangiocarcinoma and intraductal
papillary neoplasms of the bile ducts are frequently cited by many
radiologists, pathologists, gastroenterologists and abdominal surgeons.
He first described ultrasound and CT findings of visceral larva migrans,
a parasitic liver disease which is caused by larval infection of Toxocara
Canis, a paratenic human infection of dog ascaris. Without knowing that,
before he first described the disease, many papers were published as
hepatic eosinophilic infiltration. He also published many papers regarding
hepatobiliary parasitic disease.
Professor Guo published more than 150 specialized papers. He has
fostered over 100 graduated students and PhD doctors.
He is the chief editor of “Journal of China Clinical Medical Imaging”,
the chief editor of “Contemporary Hospital Management”. He is also
in charge of more than 10 projects of all levels academic research
including National Natural Science funds. He is the chief editor for
3 specialized textbooks, such as “Inerventional Radiology”. And
he is also the chief editor for several specialized monography, for
example” Practical Radiology”.
He was serving in many Korean radiologic societies such as Korean
Radiological Society, Korean Society of Medical Ultrasound, Korean
Society of Picture Archiving and Communications system, as a member
of executive cabinets as well as chief of the committees and societies.
He has been serving as a peer review of several domestic journals
and international journals such as Radiology, American Journal of
Roentgenology, as well as European Radiology. He was a Corresponding
Fellow of European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology.
Research interests relate to abdominal imaging, especially of Liver
and Biliary. He also is interventional radiologist and is particularly
interested in non-vascular interventional radiology and Tumor
diagnosis and treatment.
He served as the ASAR President during 2009-2011 leading ASAR
Executive Council Members and putting his efforts to establish the
basis of ASAR and ACAR.

Executive Council Members and putting his efforts to establish the basis
of ASAR and ACAR.
According to the above achievement and contribution, Dr. Qiyong
Guo was named Gold Medalist by ASAR.
According to the above achievement and contribution, Dr. Jae Hoon Lim
was named Gold Medalist by ASAR.
