Reliability Engineering • • • • • • • • • Monitoring and Compliance Technical Support Manage Staff Carry out condition and performance monitoring of critical equipment in order to recommend optimum maintenance activities. Identify and advise repair priorities on all failures. Analyse and identify the root causes of failures for high priority/critical items. Ensure root cause of failure information is recorded. Recommend appropriate actions to improve reliability. In conjunction with Planners, review and modify maintenance processes, procedures, services, inspection frequencies or applicability of equipment. Initiate engineering action required to solve reliability problems. Support maintenance in problem solving immediate issues. Assist in the design, planning, estimation, installation and commissioning of new or recommended plant changes to improve reliability. • Introduce reliability review of engineering designs and studies for new projects. • Coordinate and review reliability designs and recommendations from consultants and manufacturers. • Produce change implementation schedules to improve reliability and ensure they are managed according to the agreed plan. • Determine impact of reliability actions and assess financial, social, environmental and the commercial risk of alternate courses of action. • Update regularly the reliability management database and monthly reports. • Develop workable reliability solutions to complex and unique issues in an environment characterised by conflicting priorities and financial and resource constraints. • Develop potential reliability orientated solutions and suggest options to meet required changes in a complex and dynamic operational environment. • Ensure that maintenance and engineering work carried out complies with engineering standards, and corporate quality policies and procedures. • Ensure all changes are captured in the “Iluka Change management system”. • Monitor quality of new or inventory replacement equipment and materials selected for use. • Ensure recommended reliability changes are implemented. • Provide technical and specialist advice on reliability matters. • Assist and support the review of spares stock holdings. • Maintain a pro-active role in site problem solving situations. • Investigate operational and maintenance problems and recommend or initiate rectification actions required. • Maintain currency of knowledge in relevant technological developments and engineering standards. • Develop and maintain a professional, motivated work-team environment when in a supervisory role. SKILLS: (Detail the required level for recruitment) Technical (include education and specific knowledge) Mechanical engineering or Trade qualification ISO Certification in Vibration analysis Certification in Thermography Condition monitoring data collection experience Proven ability to apply reliability engineering processes to achieve improved equipment reliability that significantly reduces overall maintenance costs and plant downtime. 5 years maintenance or engineering experience in a mining/minerals processing plant with involvement in maintenance functions, research, investigation and reporting is desirable Supervisory experience an advantage Spreadsheet and calculation-based computer skills Sound understanding of financial and economic evaluation is desirable Managerial (include extent and diversity of activities managed and level of decision making) Highly organised and able to prioritise work schedules. Persuasive (include level of communication to inform or influence others) Must possess effective communication skills to influence site management. Liaison with technical staff, contractors, site supervisors. Control (categorise control of personnel and extent to which human and other controlled resources are geographically dispersed) Monitor contractors employed for specific company projects.
