Module
Description:
This module is designed to give the student a practical knowledge of the modern motor vehicle in relation to the operation of the vehicle chassis sub systems and related components. The student will be introduced to basic engineering workshop processes, the module also introduces the student to common engineering materials in use in the manufacture of the modern motor vehicle. The student will be required to assemble workshop exercises using different joining methods.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1
LO2
Conform to safe working practices associated with operating within a automotive engineering/metal fabrication workshop environment.
Identify chassis related subsystems and their individual components of a motor vehicle chassis system.
LO3
LO4
LO5
LO6
Locate and interpret automotive manufacturers manuals and technical data associated with vehicle chassis systems.
Use a range of tools and automotive test equipment to cary out fundamental testing, servicing and diagnostics associated with vehicle chassis systems.
Communicate in a technical manner relating to vehicle servicing, diagnosis or repair.
Recognise the materials associated with modern vehicle manufacturing, fabricate and assemble an operational workshop project.
Pre-requisite learning
Module Recommendations
This is prior learning (or a practical skill) that is strongly recommended before enrolment in this module.
You may enrol in this module if you have not acquired the recommended learning but you will have considerable difficulty in passing (i.e. achieving the learning outcomes of) the module. While the prior learning is expressed as named CIT module(s) it also allows for learning (in another module or modules) which is equivalent to the learning specified in the named module(s).
