Job Summary
Enterprise Community Partners is a national community development organization with market
offices across the nation, including an Ohio office based in downtown Cleveland. Enterprise
creates and advocates for affordable homes in thriving communities. We lend funds, finance
development, and manage and build affordable housing, while shaping new strategies, solutions,
and policy on the local, state, and national stages.
The Enterprise State and Local Policy Intern will work with the State and Local Policy Director
and other Enterprise Ohio staff on a variety of programs and projects, with a focus on housing
insecurity policy and advocacy. The State and Local Policy effort is burgeoning, working with the
City of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, State of Ohio, and other stakeholders to safeguard, expand,
and improve housing and community development initiatives that support low- and moderateincome households, sustainable neighborhoods, and social equity and inclusion. Enterprise’s state
and local policy work is closely connected with its long-standing national public policy team who
works with members of Congress, the White House, community development organizations. The
State and Local Policy Intern will support the Enterprise Ohio staff and State and Local Policy
Director with research, analysis, writing, coalition building, community and partner outreach,
communications, and other such efforts related to highlighting the problem of housing insecurity
and policy solutions that can impact on Enterprise’s generational goal of ending housing
insecurity.
The State and Local Policy Intern will be based out of the Enterprise Ohio office in downtown
Cleveland. This is a part-time, paid internship.
Job Responsibilities
Depending on the skills and experience of the applicant as well as the timing of projects, the
responsibilities could include:

Research and analysis of best practices in community development, affordable housing,
and social equity.

Participation in internal team meetings and provide project specific support to staff.

Preparation, participation, and ongoing facilitation of various external coalition and
stakeholder meetings.

Write content for regular communications and social media including, for example,
newsletter articles.

Help plan and execute events, including our Policy Briefings.

Assist with other projects and duties as needed.
Qualifications

Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Urban Studies, Urban Planning, Nonprofit
Management, Political Science, Public Administration, or related degree

Highly motivated and self-directed individual

Strong organizational skills

Excellent writing and communication skills

Proficiency in MS Office suite, especially MS Excel and Word

Strong interest and/or background in racial, social, and/or economic equity

Compensation: $9.00-$11.00/hour, up to 20 hours per week
