Summit Directors M. Shazam Hussain, MD Cleveland Clinic Cerebrovascular Center Andrew Russman, MD Overview Cleveland Clinic Cerebrovascular Center More than 795,000 strokes occur each year in the US and cause significant morbidity and mortality. Improvements in acute stroke management, development of pre-hospital stroke systems of care, mobile stroke units, and modeling best practices for regional, national, and international stroke systems of care, have led to significant advances in care delivery during the past 5 years. Actual outcomes, however, have not reached those achievable, owing to a variety to factors that include gaps in knowledge, competence, and practice among health care providers. Given the significant morbidity and mortality associated with strokes, education aimed at improving the knowledge and competence of practitioners to prevent and treat this disorder has the potential to substantially improve outcomes in this large patient population. Featuring Mobile Stroke Pioneers This two-day international summit is designed to address important practice gaps through presentations by the internationally-renowned leaders in mobile stroke treatment that will review and analyze the most current developments in research and clinical practice and discuss the implication for clinical practice. • Time-based outcomes for the use of tissue plasminogen activator • Building pre-hospital stroke systems of care • Mobile stroke treatment units Target Audience • Mobile imaging technology • Mobile stroke telemedicine • Regional, national and international models for stroke systems of care Neurologists, emergency medicine physicians, neurosurgeons, primary care physicians, nurses, physician assistants, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, physical therapists and occupational therapists.
