quasar energy group’s recently expanded Collinwood (Cleveland, OH) facility is
an anaerobic digesƟon renewable energy system on Cleveland’s east side on
the grounds of the former GM Fisher Body Plant. The facility is operated by
quasar and was developed under a joint venture with Forest City Enterprises.
The system applies proven, advanced anaerobic digesƟon technology to
recycle energy from organic waste in order to produce electricity, heat and a
nutrient-rich soil amendment. The facility also features a public compressed
natural gas (CNG) fuel dispenser.
quasar is a Northeast Ohio company that designs, builds, owns and
operates anaerobic digesƟon renewable energy systems, including nine
Ohio faciliƟes and several more throughout the United States. quasar’s
state-of-the-art laboratory and engineering facility is located on The Ohio State
University’s Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center campus in
Wooster, Ohio.

Agency’s Transforming Waste to Value ARRA State Energy Program.

PRESERVING OUR ENVIRONMENT - Today, the most common methods for
disposing of organic waste are landfilling and incineraƟon. Both opƟons pollute
the air, soil and water in surrounding communiƟes without producing any
beneficial products. The Collinwood facility improves the regional environment
by processing organic waste that would otherwise be sent to landfills, while
producing clean, renewable energy.
