Sunset High School Summer School 2016 Credit Recovery Program Program Overview The Beaverton School District is very excited to be launching our district wide Summer 2016 Credit Recovery program. As a student, you will have the opportunity to choose from a menu of core courses to earn credit for classes that you have previously failed. When you successfully complete a course during summer, you will earn 0.5 credit and will earn a Pass grade on your transcript. While this will not allow for grade replacement, it will allow you the chance to earn credit needed for graduation. You will also be preparing for the next level in your course sequence. If a course is not offered at your home high school, you may enroll at another comprehensive high school offering the course. Our commitment to you: It is essential to us as educators that we are not only supporting you in earning credits, but most importantly that we are helping you develop the skills needed for success at the next level of your educational development. This program has been developed with your future needs in mind. With this essential goal as our priority, we have incorporated some unique and supportive elements to our program to ensure your success. Some of these include: ü Small class size ü Direct teacher instruction ü Instructional assistants in every class ü Standards-based curriculum that is aligned to our own courses, so you are regaining credit while simultaneously preparing for the next course in your academic sequence ü A wide range of courses offered across all curricular areas Students’ commitment: Earning a semester of credit (0.5 credit) in four weeks is not a task to be taken lightly. We are committed to providing all of the supports possible for your success, but you will need to understand that this amazing opportunity will require a strong commitment.
