[January 12, 2010] – Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE:EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity™, today announced that it has completed certification of HP carrier grade servers through its Avantellis™ Certification Program. Avantellis Middleware is Emerson Network Power’s commercial distribution of the OpenSAF high availability middleware open source project, which is based on the Service Availability Forum Application Interface Specification. This enables HP customers, who have application availability uptime requirements up to five nines or more, to accelerate their application deployment by using Avantellis Middleware as a pre-integrated solution. This includes full support for current and future Avantellis Middleware releases of the OpenSAF code base. “The participation of HP, with its carrier grade servers, in Emerson’s Avantellis Certification Program extends the range of options available to the telecom industry,” said Scott Ziffra, vice president and general manager of software and services for the Embedded Computing business of Emerson Network Power. “The availability of the same level of commercial support for OpenSAF on multiple platforms, through the Avantellis Certification Program, gives equipment providers and carriers many options in building and deploying networks, without having to re-engineer each application for specific platforms”. Emerson Network Power applies its extensive portfolio of test suites to fully certify the interoperability of commercial hardware platforms and operating systems with its Avantellis Middleware. By pre-certifying the interoperability of these major components, equipment manufacturers are assured of rapid system integration cycles when developing applications on OpenSAF’s full-featured, standards-based high-availability framework.
