Eastern Sociological Society, Conference Assistant
Assisted Professor Marjorie DeVault, President of the Eastern Sociological Society, with the planning,
organizing, and scheduling of the 84th Annual Meeting (February 20-23, 2014). Duties include but are
not limited to placement of abstracts into regular paper and roundtable sessions; logistically scheduling
thematic, invited, author-meets-critic, conversations, and regular paper sessions, plus workshops (e.g.
times and rooms); co-manage overall conference inquiries and requests; and site visit(s) as needed.

Cornell Weil Medical College, Data Collector
Collect survey and biomarker data from New York State middle school students in Life Skills
Training (LST). LST, promotes youth development through drug, alcohol, and tobacco awareness, is
funded by National Institute of Health and examines the effectiveness of the evidence-based
prevention program.

Syracuse University, Research Assistant
Contributed to various research projects including self-rated health and activities of daily living
among older migrants; the health differences between military veterans and non-veterans using the
National Social Life, Health, and Aging Project (NSHAP) data; and the relationship between
poverty, disability and veteran status using the 2000 Integrated Public Use Microdata Series.

Knapsack Institute: Transforming the Curriculum, Presenter
Three-day, intensive teaching institute that serves K-12 teachers and university faculty who want to
transform their syllabi and pedagogy. The institute, housed at the University of Colorado Colorado
Springs, offers resources and prepares teachers for increasingly diverse student populations.
