GUIDELINES FOR AFJROTC INSTRUCTORS/CADETS
FOR CADETS TO EARN COLLEGE CREDITS FOR AFJROTC COURSES
Thank you for your interest in helping your cadets gain a head start with their college career
by earning college credits for their JROTC participation. This is in essence your college credits
program to recognize outstanding cadets who have fully participated in AFJROTC courses.
Your cadets can earn college elective credits for both their core AFJROTC courses completed
during the normal school year and for any supplemental courses/programs completed. In
ALL cases, the cadet must earn a grade of “B” or better. They are eligible for the
number of elective credits annotated after each course listed below. These instructions
explain the process for both core and supplemental courses.
CORE AFJROTC SCHOOL YEAR COURSES:
Your cadets are eligible for the college elective credits annotated below for each full/block
academic year they participated in and earned a grade of 'B' or better in their AFJROTC
courses. The grade they earned in their core course is the grade the instructor will use on the
grade sheet below. The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS) academic courses
that correspond to your program are:
•
•
•
•
•
LEAD 153 – Fundamentals of Leadership and Aviation History (2 credits)
LEAD 154 – Leadership in the Science of Flight (2 credits)
LEAD 155 – Leadership in Space Exploration (2 credits)
LEAD 156 – Fundamentals of Defense Aviation Policies (2 credits)
LEAD 163 – Leadership Development through Global and Cultural Studies (1-3
credits)
SUPPLEMENTAL COURSES/PROGRAMS:
For summer leadership school or summer honors camp, cadets must successfully complete
the program AND write a 2-page reflection paper on their experience. Cadets submit that
paper to their instructor who grades it. For LEAD 150 (NEFE HSFPP), cadets will complete
the academic, service learning project and post-service learning project self-analysis. The
instructor uses all three to decide on a grade for the overall course. For the College Options
DVD, cadets will go through the DVD and write a 3-page paper on how well this prepared
them for funding the college education and submit this paper to their instructor. The
instructor will grade this paper. The grades the instructor awards in each of these situations
will be used in the grade sheet submitted below. The University of Colorado at Colorado
Springs (UCCS) academic courses that correspond to your program are:
•
•
•
LEAD 150 – Personal Management & Community Service (NEFE HSFPP) (2 credits)
LEAD 151 – Character Education & Community Service
o AFJROTC Summer Honors Camp & Summer Leadership Schools (2 credits)
LEAD 161 – College Options
o College Options Foundation DVD Package (1 credit)

That’s it…we take care of the rest and students (after about 6 weeks) can login to the UCCS
student information system to request/obtain transcripted grades.
Finally, RTG & Associates, Inc. rebates $10.00 to the AFJROTC unit for each
cadet registration. RTG mails these rebates about 6 weeks after the
registration period.
