Ingolstadt/Munich, 12.05.2014: Media-Saturn in Germany is now
testing a new delivery option for goods ordered online in
cooperation with Germany's market leader for same-day
delivery, tiramizoo. This express delivery service will initially be
piloted in seven selected German cities: For Saturn these are
Berlin and Munich, for Media Markt, from 12 May 2014,
Düsseldorf,
Essen,
Mainz,
Mannheim
and
Ludwigshafen.
Following a successful test phase, it is intended that the service
will gradually be offered in other large German cities.
Do you need a certain product and you need it today but have no time
to get to your nearest Media Markt or Saturn store? Or would you like
to be the one to determine when you will be at home to take delivery
of an item? With their new service for same-day delivery or delivery at
a date and time of choice, Media Markt and Saturn are offering their
online customers maximum flexibility. A prerequisite for using this
service is that the customer is located in the delivery area of the
participating cities and the desired product is in stock at the local
stores. Whether or not this service is available is indicated to the
customer during the ordering process. The goods purchased online

are picked up at the store by a courier from tiramizoo and delivered to
the customer's doorstep.
"By offering same-day delivery and delivery at a date and time of
choice, we are setting ourselves even further apart from the
competition“,
says
Wolfgang
Kirsch,
CEO
of
Media-Saturn
Deutschland GmbH. "This offering in cooperation with tiramizoo helps
us achieve our aim of offering our customers the best possible
service at all times and via all buying channels and underpins our
multichannel strategy. After all, our closely woven network of stores in
Germany is crucial for same-day delivery. The service is further proof
that we are effectively exploiting the potential offered by closely
interlinking our online shops and our local stores."
And here's how it's done: In the online shops operated by Saturn and
Media Markt, customers can have their order delivered to their home
within between 30 minutes and three hours from the time the order is
placed for an additional service charge of just 9.90 euros, providing
that the goods are in stock at the local store and the customer's
delivery address is located within the supported delivery area.
Alternatively, delivery on the customer's date of choice within four
days of placing the order and within a two-hour window is also
possible. The delivery option is currently available for all products with
the exception of items with an age rating of 18 or older, large
electrical appliances and TVs with screen sizes exceeding 42 inches.
Employees at the respective local store prepare the goods for
delivery as soon as the order is received. At the same time, tiramizoo
communicates orders via a platform to its couriers, who pick up the
products at the store in question and deliver them to the customer's
home.
The new service is primarily offered online but also offline by the 17
stores involved in the pilot project. This allows customers buying

goods at the above-mentioned stores to also take advantage of the
express delivery service. They can now have their purchases
delivered to their home within three hours or at a date and time of
their choice. Four Saturn stores in Munich have been testing this
service since December 2013. In parallel, eight Media Markt stores in
Hamburg have also been offering an express delivery service since
the summer of 2013. In cooperation with mytaxi, a taxi driver will
deliver products purchased at a local store to the customer's address
in Hamburg within 90 minutes of purchase or a time of the customer's
choice.
"We welcome the fact that Media-Saturn has selected us as their
partner for same-day delivery and we look forward to a successful
collaboration. Especially in these times where everything has to move
fast, we want to show customers just how convenient same-day
delivery at a time of their choice can be in everyday life. The sameday delivery market has a great future. This is something our largest
investor, DPD, is also sure of. Together we are developing further
innovations," says Michael Löhr, founder and managing director of
tiramizoo GmbH.
About the Media-Saturn Group
With net revenues of 21 billion euros and approximately 65,000 employees in the
2012/13 financial year, the Media-Saturn Group, in which METRO AG has a majority
shareholding, operates in 17 countries. Media Markt and Saturn, Germany and
Europe’s number one consumer electronics retailers, are bundled under the roof of
Media-Saturn-Holding GmbH. The success enjoyed by these two retail brands, which
currently operate approximately 950 stores in 15 different countries, is based on a
unique selection of low-priced brand-name products, competent staff, excellent
service, a distinctive advertising presence and a decentralized organizational
structure. Each store manager is a shareholder in his or her own store and is thus
responsible for the product mix, pricing, personnel and marketing. Media Markt and
Saturn conduct their operations separately and are in direct competition with each
other. Both retail brands are currently being developed internationally as
multichannel retailers. The online retailer redcoon, which operates in ten European
