Instrument Transformers for Gas-insulated Switchgear Instrument Transformers for Gas-insulated Switchgear Trench Germany – the former MWB, founded in 1946 - is a recognized world-wide leader in the design and manufacture of high voltage equipment for electrical and industrial systems. While the first GIS-installations were put into service in 1965, Trench Germany was a pioneer for the delivery of the first SF6-gasinsulated voltage transformers for this application. In its long history - while experimenting with several insulation mediums, e. g. epoxy resin, traditional oil-paper-insulation - Trench Germany decided to focus on SF6gas as an insulation medium for its complete production range. The continuous product development and the close co-operation with almost all GIS-manufacturers world-wide made Trench Germany the technological leader in this field. Trench Germany manufactures a complete range of current and voltage transformers, both singlephase (type SU/SA) and threephase (type SUD/SAD) for applications from 72.5 kV up to 800 kV.
