Egnyte Protect scans, analyzes, and classifies content stored in cloud content
repositories. The metadata from files, hierarchy, permissions, users, and groups
is extracted, classification happens in the Egnyte Protect cloud along with the
analysis to identify issues. Content events are continuously monitored, so alerts are
generated in real-time. The issues can be visualized on a dashboard, showing e.g.
the number and severity for each broken policy.
For On-premises Content Repositories
The Egnyte Hub is a virtual machine (VM) deployed behind a firewall, and it acts as a
point of presence for Egnyte Protect on the customer’s on-premises infrastructure.
The hub interfaces with on-premises content repositories to extract metadata and
sends it to the Egnyte Protect cloud for analysis. Only the metadata is sent to the
cloud. The content stays on premise.
One Egnyte Hub is required per site. As the number of on-premises repositories
increases, the hub easily scales to meet your data requirements.
