A NAAC accredited GRADE ‘A’ Institution With NBA accredited programs of B.Tech. ECE, CSE & ME (valid till Aug, 2015) Ranked 14th among the private engineering Institutes of the country (Times Engineering Survey, June 26th, 2014) 1 THE MANAV RACHNA VIDYANATARIKSHA PHILOSOPHY
Manav Rachna carries forward the mantle of excellence and
professionalism with the philosophy of Manav Rachna
“Vidyantariksha”. This is a conjugation of the words vidya and
antariksha. Vidya means knowledge, information, the basis of
creativity and innovation. It is the foundation of technology and
envisages the future. Antariksha means 'the sky', the space to which we
belong or exist. It can be broken into antar and ikshan which means
inner vision. Hence the combination, the core promise of Manav
Rachna becomes “The reality of inner vision or root of all knowledge”.
2 A TRIBUTE TO A LEGEND

7 From the desk of the Vice Chancellor, Manav Rachna University
Prof. Dr. Sanjay Srivastava,
Vice Chancellor, Manav Rachna University
The education at Manav Rachna University (MRU) aims not only at imparting
knowledge and skills, but also at bringing a positive attitudinal change. Team
MRU, attempts to mould young minds with a bright vision of the future driven
by Integrity, Perseverance and Passion to be able to make a difference in the
work place. We are committed to make every student of Manav Rachna a
complete pragmatic and panoramic human being in totality, not only a success
story, but an excellent example of achieving self actualization and success in all
spheres of life.
The economy of our country is surging forward and the world is looking at us
not just as a developing nation, but a country filled with immense potential,
passion and above all, an attitude. In order to achieve Employment Generation,
+10% GDP Growth per year, Reduction of Poverty and making Indian
Enterprises World Class in terms of Quality and Cost, we have to constantly
revitalize our resources. Our country has only 1.35% of the World GDP and is
17% of the world population. Demands are high but buying power is low.
Hence, we will need to increase our export related activities by 10 times, as the
foreign markets are 75 times bigger than the Indian market. But the competitive
edge we have is that 71% or 742 million people are below 35 years of age and
we are young.
The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali says, “When you are inspired by some great
purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break their bounds.
Your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every
direction, and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world”. At
8 MREI we are working on this mission and managing in such a environment
demands a new cadre of professionals with a global outlook yet with a deep
rooted value system emanating from our vast culture.
With this paradigm Manav Rachna University (MRU) has been sensitively
proactive in realizing this need. Anatomically, the culture at MRU is marked by
highly traditional ethos whereas physiologically it is ornated by global
perspectives. This way we attempt to mould young minds with a bright vision
of the future driven by a mission to make a difference in the workplace as
values of commitment, integrity and perseverance are imbibed in them. The
Programme structure, teaching methodology and superlative industry interaction
with the focus on attitude, behavioral skills and global orientation have been the
key features of its educational philosophy.
Continuous learning is not a choice in today’s business environment but a
necessity and it is a challenge for the education to keep pace with the ongoing
dynamism, which has necessitated a total metamorphosis. We, at MRU have
been sensitively proactive in realizing this paradigm shift and there has been a
constant and conscious endeavor to update and revise the course curriculum in
tune with the dynamic needs of the business world thereby abridging the gap
between the ‘desired’ and the ‘produced’. The student-centric learning focuses
on foundation of concepts in the first year of the Programme, where students are
exposed to functional and operational areas of Courses in their respective
Programme.
This way, MRU develops human capital for industry not only suitable for just
today or tomorrow, but for a long term. We instill in our students that “There is
no passion to be found playing small – in setting for a life that is less than the
one you are capable of living”.
9 VISION
MRU is to be a ‘Centre for knowledge generation, dissemination and transfer
in the frontier areas, which derives impetus from various disciplines of
sciences, humanities and technology and generates globally relevant human
resource and knowledge which addresses the future issues/needs of society’.

An International Environmental Project With University of Tennessee, USA
The Environment project titled “A step towards cleanliness” aims to creates awareness of
environmental and social issues among the students. This project was the combined effort of
University of Tennessee, ManavRachna University, Flame University- Pune, EDIAhmadabad and Siddganga Institute of Management & Technology . The project was
initiated by Prof. Ernest Cadotte, Dr. BinduAgrawal with seven Post graduate students of
MRU. It started with a cleanliness campaign undertaken to collect data on garbage disposal
and waste management techniques adopted by industry and Government authorities. The
project team approached around 600 students at the ManavRachna campus to take the oath of
cleanliness. They clicked several project related photographs and developed a documentary
film that captured the practices of Indian Business Houses on garbage disposal. It has been
proposed that this documentary be forwarded to Pepsi Head, Indira Nooyi, to be a part of
their Corporate social Responsibility initiatives. The successful completion of this project has
led to another fruitful association withTennessee University in the form of new project titled

MRU - Serving the Community
ManavRachna students have been actively involved in taking up various projects for benefitting the society
like tree plantation, cleanliness drive, blood donation campaigns with Lion’s Club Faridabad, awareness
about obeying traffic rules to maintain road safety, literacy campaigns with underprivileged students in the
campus as well as outside in association with NGOs, skill development etc
Tree Plantation at PrakashdeepSchool Sec -21
Post graduate students of Manav Rachna University carried out a plantation drive at Prakashdeep school
Sec-21 run under the guidance of Dr. Savita for underprivileged children in a community park without a
concrete infrastructure. The lack of an infrastructure created an opening to carry out plantation along the
boundary of the school. The saplings were procured from a Forest Department Nursery and a local nursery
to serve the dual purpose of giving an enclosure to their school and to engage our students in a social act
of saving the environment.
100 MRCE IEEE Student Branch conducted a cleanliness drive at Kosi River Bank in Jim Corbett during the
Adventure-Cum-Industrial visit to Jim Corbett and Nainital in collaboration with a local NGO.
Activities conducted in Campus with children of Labour employed at MRCE: Manav Rachna

Institutions 107 Manav Rachna Innovation and Incubation Centre (MRIIC)
Prof.B.S. Gill Director MRIIC Manav Rachna Innovation and Incubation Centre (MRIIC), a seminal initiative of MREI, is
dedicated to Founder Visionary Dr. O.P. Bhalla whose dream was to encourage research and
propel students to bring their pioneering ideas to the shop floor. The students at the MRIIC
have proved their mettle time and again by conceiving ideas and transforming these into
products using the Centre’s state-of-the-art facilities.
It is said that the least likely sources of innovation are from new knowledge and bright ideas,
forming the very basis of creativity in innovation. This is one reason why we, at Manav
Rachna, take the new generation seriously, fostering in them the true spirit of innovation and
entrepreneurial growth. MRIIC has been consistently catering to the needs of students and
faculty members who are oriented towards research and development, innovation and are
buzzing with out-of-the-box ideas.
Aims and Objectives: The focus is on applied research leading to patents, research
publications in reputed Journals/ Conferences and generation of IPRs, with the ultimate aim
of improving employability skills of the University Graduates. The Centre also offers Skill
Development Programmes in the relevant areas.
MRIIC acts as an incubation centre with the primary aim of assisting innovators in realizing
their dream projects and eventually incubating these projects so that new industrial
enterprises can be started. This would enable graduates to become job givers rather than job
seekers.
The Centre is headed by an eminent applied engineering researcher with over 40 years’
experience in leading Government organizations like CSIR, BHEL and EIL, and is the
crucible where students at Manav Rachna incubate their dream projects.

In the institutions providing professional courses, it is the dream of every student to get a job offer
through campus placement while still being in the Institution and join it immediately after passing out.
Fulfilling these dreams of the students has been a constant endeavor of Corporate Resource Centre
(CRC), the central placement agency of Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (MREI). The CRC also
gathers information, through close and regular interactions with the leading recruiters, regarding the
knowledge and skills requirements of the industry and advises the institutions / faculties under MRIU to
incorporate them to make our students even more industry ready and job ready.
In the past three years, there has been a discernible improvement in the campus placements in MREI
including Manav Rachna University (MRU). For 2014 Batch, a total of 134 companies organized the
placement drives, of which 85 were new companies. So far 528 students have been placed and the
placements are still continuing. These figures include self placed students and those pursuing higher
studies/teaching assignments.
Logos of some of our esteemed recruiters are indicated below. Securing significant placement figures,
despite shrinkage in the job market due to economic slowdown, bears testimony to the fact that in
MREI/MRU, the teaching-learning pedagogy is in sync with the industry.
During the recessionary phase, most of the companies tend to become cautious and resort to
selective/limited hiring. They scout for multi-skilled and IT savvy talent equipped with sound domain
knowledge, immaculate soft skills and positive attitude. It is, therefore, imperative for the students, who
desire to pick up a lucrative job in the final year, to work hard from first semester onwards for making
themselves job ready. Towards this end, in MREI, there is a dedicated Career Development Cell (CDC) to
assist, guide and mentor students in honing industry relevant skill sets. It is important for students to
understand that the Institution can only afford job opportunities and help students enhance their
124 employment quotient. Competing in the selection process and getting selected is totally dependent on
their performance and competency.
Manav Rachna University was able to break the barrier of declining placements due to global and national
economic melt-down and recession in the last few years and attracted reputed multinational and Indian
companies for campus placements. Year 2014 ended with a promising note and 530 of our students have
already been placed in jobs and the placements still continue. Some of the eminent recruiters who
participated in placements in 2014 include TCS, Cognizant, HCL Technologies, FineEdge, JBM, L&T
Infotech, Naukri.com, Nestle, NIIT Technologies, Safenet, Sony India, Yamaha Motor Solutions, IFB,
IREO, Radisson Blu Plaza, Sadbhav Engineering Ltd, The Grand Hotel, Times Business Solutions Ltd.,
Xerox and the like.
The placements for 2015 Batch have commenced with the bang with the figure crossing 250 Nos. This
year many new companies are also expected to visit the Campus for “On Campus ” recruitments. Details
of MREI placements for the last few years are given in succeeding pages.
