Past and present of the Technical University of Košice
The Technical University of Košice was founded in 1952, but the
actual origin of the roots of two of its faculties must be sought in

in Banská Štiavnica, established by the Austro-Hungarian
monarch Maria Theresa in 1762.
The Technical University of Košice (hereinafter referred to as
TUKE) is a public university. It has:
- 9 Faculties,
- over 16,000 students,
- 900 professors, associate professors, assistant professors,
- 900 research workers and other staff.

The study consists of lectures given by associate professors,
professors and assistant professors of nine TUKE faculties.
The lectures are accompanied by demonstrations and experiments
in laboratories, showrooms and studios, and the tour round the
university campus. The topics of the lectures are based on the
lecturers‘ specialization, but they are adapted to participants‘ age
and interests. Each lecture is followed by a discussion and children
are encouraged to ask questions.
Children are given T-shirts with TUKE Children‘s University logo, as
well as selected lecture materials on their first meeting.
During the study children are provided with lunch at the TUKE dining
halls, drinking schedule and attendance.
Children have record books like university students.
The study is concluded by a graduation ceremony performed in
presence of parents and relatives, where the children receive their
diplomas from the Rector of TUKE.
