Social Media
Thank you for choosing to support ASGMA.
Social networking creates opportunities to get your fundraising message out
even further:
We offer our members with Autism the chance to make new friends, learn
new skills and have fun. Some activities take place at our resource centre in
Stretford. Others take place in the local community or even occasionally
further afield.
Twitter
Tweets are restricted to 140 characters so tweet little and often with
regular updates about your fundraising.
By fundraising for us we can continue to offer high quality services and a high
level of support for families affected by Autistic Spectrum Conditions.
Ask followers to retweet.
“Did you know that around 700,000 people in the UK may have autism, or
more than 1 in 100 in the population. This means Greater Manchester has
around 27,000 people with autism.”
(@ASGMAManchester) so that we can hear what you’re up to.
When you are talking about your fundraising make sure you tag us
Facebook
Use your own status updates to let your friends know what you’re
doing.
Ask your friends to talk about what you’re doing in their status update.
Tell people about our Facebook page and send them the link.
Youtube
Make a video and upload it to Youtube – it could be about what
you’re doing and why - or even while you’re doing your event.
Make your video original, creative and short – you never know it might
go viral.
By planning to support us we can assist more people in Greater Manchester
and especially those who receive absolutely no funding for their autism.
We believe that people with Autism should have the opportunity to be
something special.

Fundraising Activities
Sponsorship
One of the easiest ways to collect sponsorship proceeds for an event you
are co-ordinating is through a fundraising page. We currently use Virgin
Money Giving for this purpose.
The more fun or more challenging the idea is the more you will bring in!
Ideas include:
10K run
Beat the goalie
Cake sales
Bag packing at the supermarket
On the Virgin Money Giving homepage it will provide you with the option
to set up a fundraising page.
The options to choose for an event you are co-ordinating are either:
Personal Challenge
Special Occasion
Someone Special
Car wash
Chocolate ban for a month
Fancy dress at work
Sponsored head shave
If you're organising
your own event or
setting a personal
goal, pick this option.
You may be doing a
sponsored silence or
losing weight for us.
If you're fundraising
to mark a special
occasion, pick this
option. Maybe you'd
like friends and
family to sponsor you
as a birthday present.
Create a page to raise
money in support or
in memory of
someone close to
your heart.
Pub Quiz
Games Night
Sponsorship money donated through your own fundraising page is sent
directly to us, so you don’t have the hassle of collecting all the money
pledged to you.
