SPECIMEN MATERIAL GCSE SPANISH 8698/RF Foundation Tier Paper 3 Reading Specimen Mark scheme June 2018 v0.1 F MARK SCHEME – GCSE FOUNDATION SPANISH READING – SPECIMEN Mark schemes are prepared by the Lead Assessment Writer and considered, together with the relevant questions, by a panel of subject teachers. This mark scheme includes any amendments made at the standardisation events which all associates participate in and is the scheme which was used by them in this examination. The standardisation process ensures that the mark scheme covers the students’ responses to questions and that every associate understands and applies it in the same correct way. As preparation for standardisation each associate analyses a number of students’ scripts. Alternative answers not already covered by the mark scheme are discussed and legislated for. If, after the standardisation process, associates encounter unusual answers which have not been raised they are required to refer these to the Lead Assessment Writer. It must be stressed that a mark scheme is a working document, in many cases further developed and expanded on the basis of students’ reactions to a particular paper. Assumptions about future mark schemes on the basis of one year’s document should be avoided; whilst the guiding principles of assessment remain constant, details will change, depending on the content of a particular examination paper. Further copies of this mark scheme are available from aqa.org.uk 2 MARK SCHEME – GCSE FOUNDATION SPANISH READING – SPECIMEN Accept Qu 01 Mark A B E H (in any order) Qu 1 1 1 1 Key idea Accept Large Reject 02.1 Big 02.2 Engineer 1 02.3 Travel (a lot) 1 02.4 Fifteen 15 Accept Qu Grand Mark Any other number 1 1 Mark 03.1 D 1 03.2 A 1 03.3 B 1 03.4 C 1 3 MARK SCHEME – GCSE FOUNDATION SPANISH READING – SPECIMEN Qu Key idea Accept 04.1 Because they need water To get water To fetch water For water 04.2 Because its scenery is (very) beautiful It is very beautiful …landscape/countryside… …pretty 04.3 Because of the gold (which is) (found) there Because there’s (a lot of) gold there Because its inhabitants are (very) poor the people (who live there) are poor There’s a lot of poverty 04.4 Accept Qu Reject Water Mark 1 1 Gold 1 1 Mark 05.1 B 1 05.2 E 1 05.3 A 1 05.4 D 1 4 MARK SCHEME – GCSE FOUNDATION SPANISH READING – SPECIMEN Qu Key idea Accept 06.1 The billiard room 06.2 Some of the people who are there 06.3 People coming from outside the house Accept Qu The snooker/pool room A room with a billiard/snooker/pool table in A room where billiards/ snooker/pool is played Some of the people who are in the room Some of the persons… People coming in from the street Anyone… Visitors Reject Mark 1 Any answer which does not convey the idea of some… 1 1 Mark 07.1 N 1 07.2 P 1 07.3 F 1 07.4 F 1 5 MARK SCHEME – GCSE FOUNDATION SPANISH READING – SPECIMEN Qu 08.1 Key idea Accept A month Reject Mark 1 She’d never been there before 08.2 It was her first visit (there). 08.3 Castle = 1 Church = 1 (in either order) 2 08.4 dances 1 08.5 costumes Accept Qu It was the first time she’d been there dresses/outfits 1 1 Mark 09.1 C 1 09.2 B 1 09.3 E 1 09.4 A 1 6 MARK SCHEME – GCSE FOUNDATION SPANISH READING – SPECIMEN Qu Accept Mark 10.1 F 1 10.2 B 1 10.3 E 1 10.4 A 1 Qu Accept Mark 11.1 D 1 11.2 A 1 11.3 E 1 Qu Key idea 12.1 Box 1 – ama de casa (1) Box 3 – problemas económicos (1) 12.2 Box 2 – trabajo útil (1) Box 3 – seis años de estudio (1) Qu Key idea Accept Box 3 - 6 años de estudio (1) Accept Reject Mark Answers in English 2 Answers in English 2 Reject Answers in English Mark 13.1 biblioteca 1 13.2 polideportivo “ 1 13.3 parque “ 1 7 MARK SCHEME – GCSE FOUNDATION SPANISH READING – SPECIMEN Qu Key idea Normalmente yo escucho I usually listen to Accept Reject Mark Usually I listen to 1 Normally/Generally… 14 música pop en mi i-pod. pop music on my i-pod. 1 Pero a mi amigo le gusta But my friend likes 1 usar su móvil. to use his mobile (phone).
