St. Mary’s Academy, the first Loretto school in the state, has the distinction of bestowing the first high school diploma in the Colorado territory in 1875. The Sisters have also founded 21 nonprofits in the state of Colorado, including Earthlinks, Project WISE, and the Women’s Bean Project. The Sisters of Loretto celebrated their 200th Jubilee in 2012.
