3M™ Connection Modules STG 2000
This module offers Cat. 5 transmission performance as a standard. As a result, it is fully
compatible with a variety of applications (xDSL, Pairgain™, etc.).
Termination is easy, and cable jumpers can be managed from the rear or from the side.
Reliability and Performance
3M’s straight IDC technology can offer outstanding performance:
• Multiple retermination with all kinds of conductor gauges
in the 0,8 to 0,4 mm (20 to 26 AWG) range
• Improved wire retention (in all directions)
• Gas-tight connection area – corrosion-proof

Application in Network
STG 2000 modules are suitable for public telephony (MDF, cross-connection
cabinets, building distribution) as well as for private telephony and high data rates
transmission. They are also suitable for high-density installation (4500 pair single-sided
cross connection frames, 1600 pairs on 2.6 m (8.53 ft.) vertical MDF, containerized
exchanges, etc.).

3M™ PROTECTION SOLUTIONS STG 2000
Protection solutions for STG are composed of multi-pair
protection magazines as well as a complete range of
single-pair protection plugs.
Protection Magazine
• Front facing magazines suitable for all IDC STG connection
modules and BSTG modular blocks, with the relevant
protection facilities.
• Automatic grounding through the backmount frame/5 kA drain
current capacity.
• Magazine with earth cord for upgrading standard connection
modules or blocks with protection.
Single-Pair Protection Plugs
• This range of single-pair protection modules is designed to
increase flexibility in network management. Protection can be
removed separately only on faulty lines.
• Wide range of protection circuits from standard overvoltage
protection, overvoltage and current protection and fast
5-pole protection.
• Disconnection access on the protection plugs allows the
use of all STG disconnection and test accessories without
removing protection.
Single-pair protection modules are suitable for the standard
16 mm (0.059 in.) pitch. One circuit single-pair protection module
equals one color.

3M™ CONNECTION BLOCK BSTG
The BSTG block is a modular solution block for MDF applications.
These blocks are suitable for both line side and exchange side in
the main distribution frame.
The 16 mm (0.63 in.) pitch between STG connection modules
contributes to the compact design of the BSTG block. For instance,
1600 pairs can be installed on a 2.6 m (8.5 ft.) vertical. Equipment
cable is routed inside the backmount frame.
The blocks are equipped with STG range of multipurpose connection
modules with the following facilities: connection/disconnection, test
facility, IDC modules with insertion tool, and full range of single or
multipair protection plugs.

The BRCP high density terminal block is the latest generation of MDF
terminal blocks developed by 3M, specifically designed for xDSL
deployment in the Central Office for DSLAMs interconnection with the
existing Main Distribution Frame (MDF) as well as for DSLAM
interconnection in remote street cabinets. The innovative product design
of the BRCP HD block provides superior features enabling both the
DSLAM vendor – with its installation contractors – and the xDSL service
provider rapid installation and superior density, matching the
requirements of current mass xDSL lines deployment.
Optimizing the space at the MDF in the Central Office
Very compact, the BRCP HD block requires much less space on the
horizontal side of the MDF frame, making it also very adapted to confined
spaces of remote applications such as shelters or technical rooms in
residential or corporate buildings. Thanks to its high density, this product
is also very adapted for remote DSL deployment in street cabinets.
Designed for xDSL deployment
The BRCP HD block is modular by design (16 pair modularity) available in
various pair counts enabling perfect match with 8 pair bundles of most
DSLAM cable configurations in the market.
Swiveling double side – front and rear – design provides a clear
demarcation of two termination areas, one at the rear for the DSLAM
vendor installation team (direct termination of DSLAM cables), the other at
the front for the xDSL service provider team to jumper its DSL subscribers.

In a cabling systems, connection by modules generally
offers greater flexibility at the patching level. Modules
also continue to be the only solution truly adapted to the
control of large-scale systems.
The RCP module family consists of both shielded and
technical modules designed for high data rate applications.
• Technical modules enable fast installation of
interfaces between dissimilar cables (for example
a single cable with an RJ45 modular jack).
• Modules feature removable electronic boards for
a complete solution. The boards can be replaced
without removal of the connection module.
• The shielded RCP 2000 modules provide shielding
from one end of the connection chain to the other
for control of EMI.
• Label holders and color codes facilitate cable
management.
• Very easy implementation, permitting direct
y-shaped installation of jumpering wires in rear
