Highest Available Ratings in the Industry
McClellan Industries pad-mounted switchgear is available
with 2000 amp continuous interrupters at 15kV, with up to a
4000A cross bus. McClellan Industries designs, engineers
and manufactures its pad-mounted Switchgear utilizing,
A-60 Galvanneal steel, copper bus (silver- or tin-plated),
Sentry Latch (3-point, dual-action, positive verification
latch), stainless steel exterior hardware, and welded construction.
Enclosures can be fabricated from a variety of materials including mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, painted galvanized,
painted galvaneal.
Enhanced Safety via Redundant Interlocks
The GroundLoc system (patent pending) provides a series
of interlocks that prevent the operator from grounding the
visible ground switch into a live circuit via a mechanical
interlock. Should the mechanical interlock somehow be
defeated, an electrical interlock is present that will trip the
breaker if the GroundLoc switch leaves the UNGROUNDED
position and also prevents the breaker from closing unless
the Groundloc switch is in the UNGROUNDED position.

Automatic Transfer Switch
The TavLoc FTS (Fast Transfer Switch) Is made up of (2)
1200A Tavrida breakers and a Schweitzer SEL-451 relay,
providing an unparalleled value among medium voltage
automatic transfer switches. Both open and closed transition
schemes are available.

The Tavrida Breaker
In the past, manufacturers have occassionally been
unable to certify a transformer as Factory Mutual (FM)
approved due to the fact that the I2t valves specified by
FM could not be achieved. This is because most manufacturers
of vacuum interrupter switchgear can achieve a 3 to 5
cycle interrupting time at best. The heart of McClellan
switchgear is the Tavrida breaker, which can be configured
to interrupt in 1.5 cycles*.

All McClellan Industries switchgear is based on linear
magnetic breakers. Therefore, there are no levers or
gears to turn and, no motor operators which are prone
to misalignment and malfunction. While other manufacturers
must quote costly adders to provide motor operators,
remote operation is standard on TavLoc switchgear.
Other manufacturers’ switchgear requires maintanence
personnel to enter the medium voltage compartment
in order to operate the switchgear. TavLoc switchgear
completely isolates the medium voltage section from
the control section, providing maximum safety for the
operator.

The Tavrida breaker carries a 5-year warranty and is
rated for 30,000 operations. In the highly unlikely event
that the breaker requires service or replacement, McClellan
Industries switchgear is designed to allow field replacement
of the breaker, requiring only a socket set and cordless drill.
