Free Class! Applying for a Job Online
The library will be holding a free monthly class called, Applying for a Job Online. What are scannable resumes,
job banks, keywords and guerilla job search tactics? This class will help job seekers as they navigate the online job
search environment. In addition to learning about online job search vocabulary, participants will learn about the
wealth of online and print resources available to guide them through the job search process.

Two terms of classes are offered for regular adult education classes – Fall and Winter/Spring. The catalogs are
mailed to all Needham, Wellesley and Westwood residents at the end of August for fall classes, and midJanuary for winter/spring classes.
The adult education program also includes classes geared for high school students, including SAT Prep and
Driver’s Ed, which are offered throughout the school year and summer. Use the links for those programs for
more detailed information.

Food Assistance
The Newton Food Pantry

The pantry is located at the former Waban branch library located at 1608 Beacon Street at the corner of Beacon
and Woodward Street in Waban Square.
Food is distributed every Wednesday from 1:30-3:30 pm EXCEPT the third Wednesday of the month. The
pantry is open on the 3rd Saturday from 11:00 am to 12:00 p.m. The pantry provides a three day supply of
food, one time per month, for eligible Newton residents.
HELLENIC GOSPEL CHURCH FOOD PANTRY
The Hellenic Gospel Church Food Pantry/Clothes Closet is a non-profit organization run by volunteers from the
church, community, Boy Scouts troops, YMCA, and Eliot House. The Pantry is located at 187 Church Street,
Newton, MA 02458.
Food and clothing is distributed the second and fourth Friday of each month from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The
pantry provides a three day supply of food, one time per month for eligible Newton residents

The food pantry is located in the basement of the Wellesley Hills Congregational Church at 207 Washington Street
(across the street from the Wellesley Hills Branch Library).
People needing assistance from the food pantry must pre-register in person at the Wellesley Friendly Aid office, located at
219 Washington Street. For questions about registration, please call. The food pantry is open for clients on Tuesdays
from 9:00-11:00 AM, as well as the second Tuesday evening of the month from 6:00-7:00 PM.

We are open for shopping on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Wednesdays from 5-7 p.m. Clients
receive food, paper goods, bread and pastry. Food is generously donated by Roche Brothers, Sudbury Farms, Trader Joe's, Needham's
houses of worship, Needham elementary schools, Boy Scouts and Postal Workers' food drives, social organizations and individuals.
The Council is also a member of the Greater Boston Food Bank. The Food Pantry is the Council's only program that requires a client's
income eligibility either from the Needham Housing Authority or the Needham Board of Health.

Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless is committed to ensuring that everyone has a place to call home. The
Coalition's policy work and programs address this issue on three fronts. First, the Coalition provides bridges
over short-term crisis, helping homeless and at-risk people to relocate quickly into new housing or avoid
homelessness altogether. Second, the Coalition works to ensure adequate and appropriate shelter if
homelessness is unavoidable. Third, the Coalition advocates for long-term solutions to the housing crisis,
promoting government support for income and housing resources so that all Massachusetts residents can obtain
and maintain safe, affordable housing.
