For new installations: use a 4” square electrical box (minimum of 1 ½” deep) with a single-gang plaster ring. To prevent tampering: Conceal plaster ring mounting screws with drywall or use tamper resistant screws. For surface-mount installations: use Wiremold® V5744S or BW35. Remove metal back-plate from unit and mount to electrical box, as shown. © 2015 Brivo, Inc. All rights reserved. 10/28/2014 Quick Start Guide 7 2. Wiring Follow the diagram below for wiring assistance. 3. Mount Position the Edge device and mount with a screw. Step Two: Communicate The device will automatically configure itself if the network supports DHCP. If this is not the case, connect the device to a laptop and login manually to the Configuration GUI to set the networking parameters manually. If you still encounter problems, please see the Network Setup guide. © 2015 Brivo, Inc. The device must have a known IP address if it is to be accessed from other machines on the network. The most convenient way to achieve this is to set a Static IP Address appropriate for the local network. Contact your LAN administrator for the corresponding settings. For Brivo OnAir: § To set static parameters or proxy settings: 1. Connect Edge device to laptop. 2. Open your browser and enter the address http://169.254.242.121. 3. The login page will display, prompting for login information. The default username is “admin.” Leave the password field blank. 4. The password page displays. Choose a username and enter password. Click “set password.” A page displays to signify that the changes have been saved successfully o To set static IP address: 1. Click on the Networking tab. a. Click IP Configuration. b. Click the “Deactivate DHCP” button. c. Fill in the fields according to the worksheet at the end of this document. d. Click Set Static Parameters. Changes have been saved. o To set proxy server settings: 1. Click on the Networking tab. a. Click Proxy Server. b. Fill out the fields according to the worksheet. If SOCKS5 proxy server settings are required, fill in: i. Address ii. Port iii. Username iv. Password c. Click Accept. Changes have been saved. After settings are configured, reconnect the Ethernet cable back into the main network and check to ensure that the device is communicating with Brivo Central. For Brivo OnSite Server: § To set static parameters: 1. Connect the Edge device to your laptop. 2. Open your browser and enter the address http://169.254.242.121. 3. The login page will display, prompting for login information. The default username is “admin.” Leave the password field blank. © 2015 Brivo, Inc. Click “set password.” A page displays to signify that the changes have been saved successfully o To set static IP address (FOR TEMPORARY SET UP ONLY): 1. Click on the Networking tab. a. Click IP Configuration. b. Click the “Deactivate DHCP” button. c. Fill in the fields according to the worksheet at the end of this document. d. Click Set Static Parameters. Changes have been saved. 2. Reconnect both the Edge device and the laptop to the main network. 3. Go to http://<edgeIP>/cgi-bin/server.cgi and enter the SE appliance’s IP address. Software for the Edge device installs. NOTE: When you click submit, a page will display that may or may not give updates about the device’s status. Allow the page to run to completion before powering down the device. o § If necessary, return network to DHCP configuration: 1. Enter into the address field of your browser http://169.254.242.121. 2. The login page displays. Enter login information. 3. Click Networking tab. 4. Click IP Address Configuration. Click the “Activate DHCP” button. To verify connectivity: 1. Login to the SE appliance. 2. The Dashboard page display. 3. Click Hardware Status. 4. The page will display the control panel number of the Edge device on the list of control panels with the corresponding IP address, signifying that the device is communicating with the SE appliance. . © 2015 Brivo, Inc. WARNING: All network configuration information will be overwritten upon rebooting the Edge device with a jumper in place. • To use the Network Defaults Jumper: 1. Remove the jumper from the Tamper header. 2. Place the same jumper over the two left pins of the P65 header as shown in the figure above. 3. Reboot the Edge device to change all of the configuration settings back to the factory default settings. 4. After the LED turns amber, remove the jumper from the P65 header and return it to the Tamper header. The Edge device will take approximately 60 seconds to reset following the removal of the jumper. Once the device finishes rebooting, the LED will blink green. 5. Configure the Edge device for your installation parameters. © 2015 Brivo, Inc.
