Description of Change:
Silicon Labs will discontinue the sale the Si3400 and Si3401 products after 28Jul10. The Si3402 is a
pin-compatible and feature-compatible, drop-in replacement part that is available for PoE PD
applications. The Si3402 features EMI performance approximately 6 dB lower than the Si3400/01.
Pricing for the Si3402 has been lowered to match the Si3400 device.
Reason for Change:
The performance of the Si3402 is equivalent functionally and performs better parametrically than
the Si3400 and Si3401. In addition to approximately 6dB lower EMI, the Si3402 offers a tighter
distribution of current limit, reference voltage and PWM frequency and provides better noise
immunity on the ERout pin. Due to design enhancements to enable lower EMI, overall conversion
efficiency is approximately 1% lower than the Si3400 and Si3401.
Impact on Form, Fit, Function, Quality, Reliability:
None. The Si3402 is identical to Si3400 and Si3401. The Si3402 provides higher manufacturing
yields and higher reliability when compared to Si3400 and Si3401. Customers can use the Si3402 in
system designs intended for the Si3400 and Si3402.

28Jan11, Silicon Labs will no longer ship Si3400 and Si3401 devices.
