Lille London 5 CAMPUSES paris Singapore Nice london paris NICE SINGAPOre LILLE MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN OF GRADUATES STUDIES EDHEC Business School, founded in 1906, is among the leading business schools in Europe. It is widely recognised for its academic excellence, for the international impact of its research and for its unique synergies with the global business world. All of the School’s academic programmes draw heavily on these three strengths. The EDHEC Master in Management (MIM), the School’s flagship programme, is a two-year, full-time programme awarding a double degree —the Master in Management and the Master of Science. The programme, taught entirely in English, is specifically designed to prepare students for international careers in management. One programme option, the MIM European Apprenticeship Track, provides an opportunity to study while gaining valuable professional experience. Internationalisation is as much an EHDEC hallmark as is academic excellence. EDHEC has thus entered into 118 partnerships, 19 of which are double-degree agreements, with leading universities and business schools in 31 countries. These partnerships enable our students to gain additional international experience by going on exchange or attending double-degree programmes at such renowned institutions as the London School of Economics, Nagoya University of Commerce & Business, IE Business School, Jiao Tong University and many others. As part of its efforts to be relevant to business —the School's strategic outlook is encapsulated by the motto “EDHEC for Business”— EDHEC has also forged close ties with leading companies in France and abroad. Carrefour and Unilever, for instance, are the Corporate Programme Sponsors for the MSc in Marketing Management, and Capgemini Consulting for the MSc in Strategy & Organisation Consultancy. Such sponsors play active roles in classroom instruction, and their commitment ensures that the curriculum is always relevant to business. In a business world undergoing constant change, posing different challenges by the day, such assurances can only improve the professional preparation afforded students. In other words, EDHEC Business School offers its students an unrivalled opportunity to acquire the knowledge and experience to become leaders in their fields. In addition to being a touchstone for academic excellence, EDHEC aims to connect students and alumni with recruiters by creating synergies through a wide range of services provided by the EDHEC Career Centre; these synergies make the School a genuine recruitment partner. The programme is specifically designed for students seeking cross-disciplinary training for employment in cultural and social businesses. The programme also offers a professional partnership with initiativesETcité, the first cluster dedicated to social and creative enterprises. Learning outcomes • Lead projects in the creative industry • Master creative and social innovation • Conduct critical research • Analyse cultural and social needs to manage the future with a global vision • Perform managerial roles in international creative and social environments Core Modules Arts management The course explores the conceptual, philosophical, generational, situational and subjective forces that define art, aesthetics and the cultural field. Corporate Social Responsibility The course allows participants to examine policies on social responsibility. It introduces students to the framework in which philosophies, morality and ethics can be made compatible within the constraints of the industry. Creative economy Introduction to and presentation of the creative economy (advertising, architecture, arts, crafts, design, fashion, film, music, performing arts, TV and radio, video games). Creativity Management Global Justice & Human Rights The course builds creativity and creative thinking tailored to the needs of social business and the arts. Creativity is essential at every stage of the managerial process, including allocation of roles, definition of objectives, communication and marketing, corporate philosophy, problem-solving and budgeting. How do we justify, rationalise and provide an international framework for human rights and global justice that transcends national and historical contexts and responds to global concerns for freedom, democracy and basic human well-being? Critical Research Methods The course provides an introductory overview of legal matters specific to the arts, non-governmental organisations and philanthropy, including international treaties, EU laws, public finance, taxation, crowdfunding, copyright, etc. The module explores data gathering and data analysis used in surveys and field research for the purposes of qualitative study. The course explores theory generated research, corporate consulting projects and sociological and anthropological enquiry of target markets/ causes/arts/development. The course also integrates critical thinking strategies and ‘thinking outside the box’ techniques. Entertainment Industry The course explores the entertainment industry (film, music, video games), its delivery formats and changes in consumption patterns. Fashion design The course explores the fashion industry (from creation to market) in the French and international markets. 22 Innovative Finance & law Management of charitable organisations The course studies the risks posed to organisations operating within, between and around nations, as well as the opportunities they enjoy. It also challenges previously accepted modes of management, leadership and decisions. Media /social media & development The objective is to help students understand the role and function of the media and social media in the not-for-profit/non-government sector (from cultural to humanitarian organisations). This module is an introduction to the concepts of social business and social entrepreneurship in France and in Europe. It explores theory, from"bottom of the pyramid" ideas to the main concept of social business developed by Pr. Yunus. Social Innovation Seminars Business Ethics The seminar aims to teach students how to better frame ethical issues related to business and the economy, and to become more aware of the philosophical questions which underlie individual and collective decisions. Strategic Leadership New Cultural Markets & Social Practices The course explores the new strategies, ideas and organisations that meet social needs of all kinds (from working conditions and education to community development and health) and which extend and strengthen civil society. Social innovation takes an inter-industry approach and is universally applicable. The course brings together the dimensions of management (leadership), strategy and governance through an intellectual journey in top management teams. Philanthropy The course considers managerial entrepreneurship from the perspective of an "unusual" business. It combines organisational excellence, through the application of quality principles and best practices, together with a far greater emphasis on business sustainability assessments. Sustainable Development INTERNATIONAL ACADEMIC EXCHANGE WITH This course analyses how demographic profiling, consumption patterns and political change inform consultants, strategists, entrepreneurs and political planners to imagine possible scenarios for future societies (new cultural products, services and social practices). The course addresses best practices in lobbying, fundraising and donating. Techniques for private and corporate foundations are covered, as are the particular budgeting, investment, taxation and risk constraints and opportunities that characterise non-profits. 23 Students can opt to spend their second semester at HEC Montréal in Canada and take courses in the Master of Management in Cultural Entreprises. academic programme Social Business/Social Entrepreneurship study abroad Micro-finance The course explores the cooperation between banks and Monetary Financial Institutions (MFIs). For their final year of study, students may choose one of the following Masters of Science: MSc in Business Management (major in Marketing & Business Development or Organisation Development & Consulting) or MSc in Financial Management (major in Corporate Finance or Capital Markets). I chose the European Apprenticeship track simply because it combines one of the most competitive finance programmes in Europe and the opportunity to experience professional life for a period of two years before you actually graduate. Gabriel Puche López (Spain)—EDHEC 2013 Financial auditor, Deloitte—France 24 I chose the apprenticeship track first and foremost to obtain financial independence. Now a year into the course, I realise that I have gained much more: maturity, real responsibility, international travel, a manager and a tutor who care about my development and a fascinating insight into the French business world that would have been difficult to achieve without the EDHEC logo on my CV, to name just a few! I would encourage any student interested in this track, and willing to embrace a change in lifestyle, to go for it. You won’t look back.
