COMPONENTS Roof Switch for rolling stock Type RS General informations The RS is an off-load switch, electrically or electro-pneumatically operated, and designed mainly to be installed outdoors on the roof of electric traction vehicles. The RS is available in three main executions: change-over switch, disconnect switch, as well as disconnect and earthing switch. It is suitable for single-voltage as well as for multi-voltage vehicles, covering all the usual line voltages (1.5 kVdc; 3 kVdc; 15 kVac and 25 kVac) as well as the different vehicle’s currents rated from 1000 A to 4000 A. Applications Roof switch for locomotives, trains and EMUs running on ac and/or dc networks. Application C Change-over switch Application D Disconnect switch Application E Disconnect and earthing switch Main features • • • • • • • • • • Rated operational voltage up to 3.6 kVdc or 27.5 kVac Rated free air thermal current from 1000 A to 4000 A High insulation level - overvoltage category between poles : OV3 or OV4 / between poles and earthed base plate: OV4 High rated short-time withstand current to ensure a safe protection’s coordination with the vehicule’s main circuit-breaker performances Suitable for vehicle speed up to 380 km/h (when installed outdoor) Electric operation (electro-pneumatic in option) For electric operation, the RS is delivered with integrated interlocked control relays Delivered with a low voltage cover for IP3x protection Usable in various ranges of ambient temperature from -40°C to +70°C for electric version (-50°C to +70°C in option) Reference standards: EN/IEC60077-1 /-2; IEC61373; EN50124-1/IEC62497-1; EN45545-2 Product range U [V] 27500 VAC 3600 VDC RS25.10 RS25.20 RS25.30 RS25.40 RS03.10 RS03.20 RS03.30 RS03.40 1000 2000 3000 2 I [A] 4000 Data for product selection MAIN HIGH VOLTAGE CIRCUIT Symbol Unit RSRSRSRSRSRS RS RS 25.1025.2025.3025.4003.1003.20 03.30 03.40 ---- Rated operational voltage Ue[kVac] 27.527.5 27.5 27.5 [kVdc] - - - - 3.63.63.63.6 --- Rated insulation voltage Ui [kVac] 27.527.527.527.5 [kVdc] - - - - 4.84.84.84.8 Conventional free air thermal current (1) Ith [A] 100020003000400010002000 3000 4000 Peak and rated short-time withstand current AC:Îcw[kAac] 63636363 - - - Icw[kAac] 25252525 - - - t[s] 1111- - - DC:Îcw[kAdc] 63100100 100 63 100100100 Icw[kAdc] 447070704470 70 70 t [s] 0.10.10.10.10.10.1 0.1 0.1 Overvoltage category - Pole-pole OV3 or OV4 OV4 - Pole-earth OV4 OV4 Rated power-frequency withstand voltage (2)U50[kVrms]80 20 Rated impulse withstand voltage (1.2 / 50 µs)Uimp [kV] 125(OV3) or 170 (OV4) 40 (1) At Tamb = +40°C and tested with high voltage connections according to standard IEC/EN 60943 (2) At 50 Hz during 1 minute: pole-pole; main circuit-earth LOW VOLTAGE AUXILIARY CIRCUIT Control circuit Type of operation Electric or electro-pneumatic Nominal voltage Un[Vdc] 24, 36, 48/50, 72, 110 Range of voltage [0.7 - 1.25] Un Electric version - Control power (3) P[W] 125 Electro-pneumatic version: - Control power (3) P[W] 2.5 - Air flow [l/operation] 0.4 - Operating pressure (3) p [MPa] 0.4 - 1 Commutation time (3) [s] ≤ 3 ( RS..10 / RS..20 ) ≤ 6 ( RS..30 / RS..40 ) (3) At Un and Tamb = +20°C Auxiliary contacts Type of contacts Rated voltage [Vdc] Conventional thermal current Ith[A] Switching categories according to EN60947 (silver contacts) Minimum let-through current at 24 Vdc (4)[mA] (4) For dry and clean environment Changeover (CO) 24 to 110 10 AC-15 230 Vac 1.0 A DC-13 110 Vac 0.5 A ≥10 (silver contacts) or 4≤ I <10 (gold contacts) Low voltage interface Type of connection (5) Refer to page 7 for mobile connector informations 1 connector: Harting HAN 24 DD (5) Insulation Rated power-frequency withstand voltage (6)U50[kVrms]1.5 At 50 Hz during 1 minute (6) OPERATING CONDITIONS Installation Outdoors Altitude [m] ≤ 1400 (7) Working ambient temperature - Electric operation Tamb [°C] -40 to +70 (-50 to +70 in option) - Electro-pneumatic operation Tamb [°C] -25 to +70 Humidity According to IEC62498-1 / EN50125-1 Pollution degree PD4 Minimum mechanical durability N Cycles ≤ 250000 Protection index: - HV part IP00 - LV part IP3X - Tightness between upper and lower part when installed (8)IP65 (7) For >1400m, please contact Sécheron (8) Delivered with an O-ring seal 3 Information for product integration Main dimensions (standard versions) Dimensions without tolerance are indicative. The customer’s air circuit is connected directly into the G1/4” L-connection of the cylinder valve, by means of a quick release air connection (to be ordered separately - refer to page 7). High voltage contact - Ice protection Only for RS..10, RS..20, RS..30 Assembled on the top of the fixed contacts, this protection limits the impact of icing conditions on the RS functionality. Note: for harsh environmental conditions contact Sécheron to evaluate the most appropriate solution. Roof execution Special executions to install the complete RS on the roof (without roof opening) are available for the electric version upon request.
