TRANSFER OF SOCIAL AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES OF WESTERN EUROPEAN UNION TO THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE A 49.986 confidential - 1 - CM (59) 105 In pursuance of the general instructions given by the Ministers’ Deputies at their 73rd meeting , a meeting took place in Paris at the end of September between representatives of the Secretariats of Western European Union and of the Council of Europe, in order to draft for consideration by the two Ministerial organs the outline of a procedure which could be followed to give effect to the decision to transfer to the Council of Europe the social and cultural activities of W.E.U. The principles set out in the draft text produced as result of this meeting have since been approved by the Council of W.E.U., subject to one or two amendments which have been incorporated in the text reproduced in annexe. This revised text will be submitted to the Council of W.E.U. again on Wednesday, 21st October, for final approval. a The Secretary-General of W.E.U. has let it be understood that the Council of his organisation would welcome the submission of chis text to the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe at an early date.
