ABOUT THE AUTHORS In Alphabetical Order Erhan AKDEMİR He graduated from Atılım University Department of International Relations in 2003. He completed his master degree in 2006 at Ankara University Institute of Social Sciences Department of International Relations. He is currently a doctorate student at the same University and department. He is also still working for European Union Research Center of Ankara University as a EU Research Fellow. Gökçe ARSLAN She graduated from the department of English Language and Literature- Hacettepe University in 2006. Currently she is attending the internship programme of International Strategic Research Organization (ISRO) while continuing her academic preparation with regard to post-graduate studies of ‘International Relations and Terrorism’. Nermin AYDEMİR She graduated from Political Science and International Relations department of Marmara University in 2004. Since 2005, she has been doing her MA in political science in the University of Leiden and writing her thesis on “Dual Identities among Turkish Youth in the Netherlands". Her main research areas are interethnic/group relations, ethnicity, identity, migration, Turkish Diaspora, transnational terrorism, counterterrorism and Dutch Politics. İhsan BAL He is currently an Associate Professor at Turkish Police Academy, Institute of Security Sciences, Ankara. Beside this he is Head of the International Security, Terrorism and Ethnic Studies Centre at International Strategic Research Organization / Ankara. (PhD / University of Leicester, Department of Social Sciences (England), MA / University of Leicester, Department of Social Sciences. (England), BA / Turkish Police Academy). Dr. Bal is a security and terror expert and have many publications in relation with his expertise field. Arzu CELALİFER She completed her undergraduate education at Ankara University, Faculty of Political Science in 1998. In the same year she had started her post graduate education at Ankara University, Institute of Social Science, European UnionInternational Relations Department and graduated in 2001 after submitting her thesis titled “Refugees and Immigrants in The European Union”. She has started her PhD education in 2003 and she is still studying on her thesis. Currently, she is working as a researcher at International Strategic Research Organization (ISRO), Middle East Research Center and she is the assisting editor of Review of International Law and Politics at the same time. 188 About The Authors Efe ÇAMAN He is currently an Assist. Professor at the Department of International Relations of the University of Kocaeli. He studied Political Science at the University of Augsburg in Germany, copleted his MA degree as a Friedrich-Ebert-Scholar in 1998 and his Ph.D. degree with summa cum laude at the same university as scholar of Bavarian State Elite Researcher Scholar in 2005. In 2005-2006 he lectured at the University of Augsburg. Dr. Efe Çaman is the author of many publications in European Union politics, Turkish-European relations, theories of international relations and Turkish foreign policy. Cenap ÇAKMAK He graduated from the Department of International Relations at Ege University. He has worked as a Foreign Trade Expert for a while. He received an MS degree in Global Affairs from Rutgers University, NJ, USA, in 2004, where he is currently a Doctoral Candidate as well. Besides academic studies, he also works in Turkish-Asia Center for Strategic Studies as a Policy Expert. He is the author of about thirty pamphlets, chapters in books and articles. Some of his works have appeared in such scholarly journals as Perceptions, Alternatives, Insight Turkey, Journal of Civil Society, Journal of Liberal Thought, Journal of Strategic Insight, and Journal of Academic Studies. Sedat LAÇİNER Director, International Strategic Research Organization (ISRO) and IR lecturer in Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. BA (Ankara University, Political Science Faculty,International Relations Department), post graduate (Sheffield University, School of Politics, International Politics, UK), PhD (King’s College London, University of London). Dr Laçiner is the author of many books and articles on Turkish foreign policy and international relations. His research interests: Turkish foreign policy, international security and terrorism, integration and dis-integration studies, Middle Eastern and Caucasian studies. Gürhan MUSLUOĞLU Gürhan Musluoğlu graduated from the department of Economics at Gazi University in 2005. He started his MA in international relations at Middle East Technical University that same year. He is in the army now and will finish his MA after the army duty. Emre ÖZKAN Emre Özkan has graduated from METU, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, International Relations Department in 2004. In the same year, he started his post graduate education at Ankara University, Institute of Social Sciences, European Communities-International Relations Department. He is still continuing his post graduate studies. He worked at International Strategic Research Organization as the editor of Online Journal of Turkish Weekly for about one year and has begun to his new job in Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a diplomat. 189 About The Authors Noyan ÖZKAYA He graduated from the department of Business Administration/ Middle East Technical University (METU) in 2001. He started his MA in International Relations at METU that same year and obtained his degree in 2005 with the submission of his thesis on “The Palestinian Refugees in Lebanon: The Policies of the Lebanese State and the Role of the UNRWA”. He is currently working as an assistant at International Strategic Research Organization / Middle East Studies Centre. Murat SARAÇLI He graduated from the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, at Gazi University in 2004. Then, he took his master degree from the Department of International Relations, Institute of Social Sciences, Gazi University in 2006. Murat SARAÇLI, who still studies in the same University as a PhD candidate, works as a research assistant at the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences since 2005. Hakan TAŞDEMİR He graduated from the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Political Sciences, Ankara University, in 1990. Then, he took his master degree from Ankara University and doctorate degree from Gazi University in 1999. He became associate professor in 2004. He still works at the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Gazi University since 1993.Study Areas: International Law, Humanitarian Law, Human Rights Law and European Union Law. Merve İrem YAPICI 190 She graduated from Ege University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of International Relations in 2001. She wrote her MA thesis on EU-US Relations on the axis of European Security and Defence Policy at the Social Science Institute of Dokuz Eylül University. Merve İrem Yapıcı started her PhD education in Ankara University Social Sciences Institute, Department of International Relations in 2003. She works as a research assistant at the same institute.
