Question

When installing RCP and HIL software, the installer freezes during the Python installation.

I cannot activate another installation set with the dSPACE Installation Manager. The activation
process freezes.

I cannot start the Python stand-alone setup. The InstallShield setup does not start.
Solution
In rare cases, a conflict between the InstallShield installer, used by the dSPACE Python setup, and
the SYSPLANT driver of the Symantec Endpoint Protection™ software might occur. This problem is
caused by an invalid operation of the InstallShield installer and occurs if the Application and Device
control component, a part of the Symantec Endpoint Protection™ software, is active.
As a workaround, we recommend to temporarily uninstall the Application and Device control
component of the Symantec Endpoint Protection™ software. To do this, perform the following steps:
1. Open the Windows Start menu and go to Control Panel – Add or Remove Programs. Check if
Symantec Endpoint Protection™ software is installed on your system.
2. Click Change button to start the Installation wizard of the Symantec Endpoint Protection™software. Then, click Next. Refer to the following illustration:

3. Click Modify to display the Custom Setup dialog.
4. In the Custom Setup dialog, select Application and Device Control, open the context menu
and select ‘Entire feature will be unavailable’.

5. Click Next and continue to uninstall the Application and Device Control component.

6. After the Installation wizard finishes, you have to restart your computer.
7. After you restarted your computer, start dSPACE Setup again.
