Preface
The 8th International Conference on Reactive Plasmas (ICRP) and the 31st Symposium on Plasma Processing
(SPP), and satellite workshops are held in Fukuoka, Japan between 3 and 8 February 2014. ICRP and SPP are
Japanese triennial and annual meetings covering the entire field of reactive plasmas: generation, diagnostics
and modeling of plasmas and their interaction with surfaces, and their applications. This ICRP-8/SPP-31
conference was organized under the sponsorship of the Japan Society of Applied Physics (JSAP).
The scientific scope of this conference is focused on both experimental and theoretical aspects of physics of
ionized gases and on its industrial applications. It covered the following topics:
1. Production and Control of Reactive Plasmas
2. Plasma Diagnostics and Monitoring
3. Transport Phenomenon and Atomic/Molecular Processes
4. Modeling and Simulation
5. Particle Production and Behavior
6. Plasma-Solid Interaction and Surface Modification
7.Etching
8.Deposition
9. Micro/Atmospheric-Pressure Plasmas and Plasmas in Liquids
10. Applications for Nano-Technologies
11. Applications for Green Technologies
12. Applications for Life Sciences
13. New Trends of Reactive Plasmas / Emerging Technologies
14. Special Session on Interactions between Plasmas and Nanointerfaces
The ICRP-8/SPP-31 conference is attended more than 600 scientists from 20 countries. 2 plenary, 45 invited
talks, and 84 oral talks are presented. The 258 contributed papers are presented in 5 poster sessions.
Three tutorials are provided on “Plasma nano-processes”, “Atmospheric pressure plasma and plasma in
liquids”, and “Modelling and simulation”. Beside this, four workshops were held on “Plasma applications
in nanocarbon materials and devices”, “Control of fluctuation of plasma processes”, “Advanced plasma
processing and diagnostics”, and “Solar cells”. The abstracts of all oral and poster contributions are published
in the proceedings of the conference. Some of the papers will be published in the special issue of Japanese
Journal of Applied Physics.
I would like to thank the committee members of ICRP-8, especially the members of the Local Organizing
Committee for their indispensable contributions for the success of this conference. Thanks are also due to the
sponsors of the conference, particularly JSAP.
