Securities Firms
The securities industry is highly complex,
each transaction involves many processes
and market participants: from trade
allocation, confirmation, matching and
settlement, to portfolio reconciliation,
collateral management, asset servicing
- and beyond, to reporting and trade
repositories. Trades must be accurately
executed, confirmed, cleared and settled
in a timely manner across time zones and
jurisdictions via multiple communication
channels and technology platforms in a
cost-effective and compliant way.
In this changing market, broker/dealers,
hedge fund managers, investment
managers, prime brokers, custodians,
markets infrastructures, and intermediaries,
all face common challenges. SWIFT has
been supporting the securities community
since 1987 with standards, solutions
and post-trade processing services connecting over 6,000 global market
participants. You will find here a selection
of courses suited to this important sector,
but SWIFT Services can help further tailor
our training and services to solve your
particular business challenge.

ISO 20022 Messages for Securities
Settlement and Management
As a response to the question in SWIFT’s
Post-Trade Survey 2013 ‘What single
development in the marketplace would
have the biggest positive impact on
operational efficiency of post-trade flows
for the industry?’, respondents replied
with the following two ‘top answers’:
‘Widespread adoption of standardised
messaging for communication’ and
‘Adherence to international standards by
new and existing market infrastructures’.
Since more and more market
infrastructures are now indeed adopting
ISO 20022, it is the right time for you to
learn about these new messages.

Are you aware that worldwide 10 to 15
Market Infrastructures will be introducing
ISO 20022 for Corporate Actions? Market
Infrastructures in Europe are considering
moving to ISO 20022 in conjunction with
the TARGET2-Securities initiative. DTCC
in the US is already operational with ISO
20022 and other countries that have no ISO
15022 legacy are replacing their proprietary
standards with the ISO 20022 xml-based
standard immediately.
Technically, this xml-based standard
will bring tremendous added value for
IT implementation and maintenance.
Furthermore, ISO 20022 is bridging the gap
in terms of data completeness, processes
and message flows.
This course is ideal for institutions that
want to find out more about the ISO 20022
messages for Corporate Actions or are
considering using ISO 20022 for Corporate

ISO 15022 Enhanced for T2S
In the coming years, the majority of European
CSDs will outsource their settlement activity to
a new technical IT platform called TARGET2Securities (T2S). The customers of those CSDs
can connect directly to T2S (they are ‘Directly
Connected Parties’ or ‘DCPs’). However, most
of the CSD customers will connect indirectly to
T2S. They will do so via their CSD or another
DCP and will therefore be called ‘Indirectly
Connected Parties’ or ‘ICPs’. Whereas
DCPs will be using ISO 20022 messages for
securities settlement and management, ICPs
can (continue to) use the existing ISO 15022
messages.
Are you aware that these ISO 15022 messages
have been enhanced to make them compatible
with the T2S business processes and data
allowing ICPs to take full benefit of T2S
functionality and services? For DCPs, using
ISO 15022 with their ICPs is a means to
operate efficiently in T2S and upgrade their
offering. This training course provides both
ICPs and DCPs with an understanding of those
enhancements. You will learn about the new
processes and flows based on end-to-end
case scenarios where T2S specificities and
implementation attention points will be flagged.
Audience
This course is designed for business analysts, IT staff,
operations supervisors and managers from financial
institutions (global and local custodians, CCPs, etc.) in
their role as ICP or DCP (connecting to T2S on behalf
of ICPs; this includes CSDs).

in the context of T2S (where relevant mapping with
ISO 20022 will be highlighted). The case scenarios

T2S - ISO Messages for Liquidity
and Collateral Management
Are you interested in learning about the
provisioning and monitoring of liquidity
supporting the settlement process in
TARGET2-Securities (T2S) and how autocollateralisation and bilateral collateral

these aspects from a messaging point
of view. You will become familiar with the
ISO 20022 messages that will be used in
the communication to and from T2S to
instruct, maintain and reconcile liquidity
transfers, to manage your cash position
and balance, intra-day as well as during
the end of day cash management process.
Through end-to-end business scenarios,
ISO 20022 messages will further
demonstrate how payment banks and
payment bank clients interact with their

through T2S auto- collateralisation. Finally,
you will get a better understanding of ISO
20022 messages in relation to bilateral
