About Multi-Material BC (MMBC)
Starting May 19, 2014, businesses that supply packaging and
printed paper to BC residents will be responsible for collecting
and managing these materials so they can be recycled. MultiMaterial BC (MMBC), a non-profit organization acting on behalf
of these businesses, will work with the City of Port Moody on
its residential recycling program. Find out more about MMBC
at www.recyclinginbc.ca or www.portmoody.ca/mmbc.
When you’re preparing your
recyclables, remember to:
Green waste cart
Garbage cart
• Empty and rinse containers.
• Remove caps, pumps and lids; place loose in cart.
• Put metal lids inside cans and squeeze slightly.
• Return deposit containers to depot for refund.
• Place newspapers and flyers loose in collection
container, not inside plastic or paper bags.
• Remove plastic wraps.
• Remove and discard liners (from items like cereal boxes).
• Tie shredded paper firmly in a clear plastic bag
(no opaque, coloured or black bags).
• Remove plastic wrap from cardboard flats. Flatten
and tie flats into bundles no larger than 8” thick by
30” wide by 30” tall.
Where to recycle your glass
You can no longer put glass in your recycling
cart. For right now, drop off your glass at any one
of these four temporary depots set up by the City:
1. Heritage Mountain Community Centre,
200 Panorama Place
2. Westhill Park, 200 Westhill Place
3. Heritage Shoppers Village, 221 Ioco Road
4. 3001 St Johns Street
Depots will be in place until the end of March, 2015.
Call Operations at 604.469.4574 with any questions.
Starting in the spring of 2015, the City will pick up
non-refundable glass at the curb on a montly basis.
We’ll provide single family homes with a separate
glass bin, while multi-family homes will get a large
cart for their garbage rooms. Watch for updates
closer to the rollout in the paper, in your mailbox
and online at www.portmoody.ca/recycle.
