What is the scholarship? The Department of Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University, through the support of AESSEAL and the Institute of Mechanical Engineers is offering two full fee scholarships for female UK students studying a full time Postgraduate Engineering course starting from September 2016. Scholarships are awarded to ambitious female students who can demonstrate not only excellent academic achievement but also ambition, determination and dedication. Am I eligible? You are eligible to apply for an AESSEAL/IMechE scholarship if: you are a female student; and Page 1 of 3 IMechE & AESSEAL PG Scholarship Development & Alumni Office you have been assessed for fees purposes as a UK or ‘home’ status student; and hold an offer for one of the MSc Engineering courses listed above; and you achieved a minimum 2.2 or equivalent in your honours degree and you meet the academic entry requirements for your course. Please attach your transcripts to your scholarship application. You will be required to pay any additional fees your course may require, e.g. field trips You are not eligible for the scholarship where you are: a part time student classed as an EU or international student for fees purposes a student whose fees are paid in whole or in part through sponsorship (for example by your employer) How do I apply? Return to the email below for courses starting in September 2016; Return your scholarship application form with copies of your transcripts to c.dale@shu.ac.uk no later than Sunday 4 September 2016 Applications for January start dates will open in September 2016. On your application form, you need to tell us about Your academic achievements Significant things you have done to date which make you stand out from the crowd. This could include professional qualifications, projects you have worked on, or nonacademic achievements (outside of those already covered in other sections). Your decision to choose a career pathway into engineering, what inspires you, what would you like to achieve with your career. How you would represent the University as an ambassador for Women of all ages considering STEM career pathways (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) If you are applying for a postgraduate scholarship you must have achieved the equivalent of a 2:2 in your undergraduate degree. What happens if I am successful? The Department of Engineering's Athena SWAN Committee will review all applications You will be notified if you have been successful and your offer letter will be updated to reflect your scholarship award before enrolment.
