Select Claim type

drop-down list.

2. Please note, once selected, the Claim Type cannot be
amended. It determines what data you need to enter and the
layout of the printed CNF.
This walkthrough will show the screens for the Employers’
Liability (Accident). The differences for Employers’ Liability
(Disease) and Public Liability are described in the PDF available
at the end of the Walkthrough.

Tab 1: Claim and claimant details for EL Accident claims
1. All yellow fields are mandatory and must be
correctly completed for your CNF to send.

2. Enter your contact details in the boxes here.
Do not click ‘PAF look up’ if you have entered the
address manually.

3. Input defendant details. As before, if you type in the
address details manually do not click ‘PAF look up’.

4. Click Search Compensator to reveal additional
boxes to complete: Please use the first 3 letters of
the compensator and press Search. Select the
correct compensator from the list.
5. Enter details of the injured party here. Remember
not to click ‘PAF look up’ if you have entered
address details manually.
6. Whenever you add address details, you must
include:
- Number
- Street 1
- Postcode
- Town/City
- Country
Partially completed addresses will prevent the CNF
from being sent.

7. Click to save progress at any time.

Tab 2: Medical Details – EL Accident

3. Remember to select Yes from the
dropdown list for the statement of truth.
4. Check that all mandatory
information has been included in all
tabs then click ‘Send’ to submit the
CNF. Missing information is shown by
Red boxes, and incorrect information
is highlighted by a Red warning
symbol .
5. You can use the Print CNF draft to
generate a CNF without it being sent to
the Compensator. This function can be
used when you need to send a paper
copy to the defendant when the
Compensator is not known.

Notification date confirmation

1. The notification date defaults to the current
date.
If you have previously sent a paper copy of the
CNF to the defendant where the protocol allows,
you should enter the date when the form was
posted. This must not be earlier than 29 working
days previously.

2. If you press Confirm and the web screen is redisplayed on Tab 1, there
is a validation error on one of the tabs. Display each tab in turn, look for
error messages and formatting errors (red exclamation mark). Correct the
errors, press Send and Confirm the date.

CNF print

1. If the CNF has been successfully generated
and sent to the Compensator, you must open the
printable documents and print or save a copy of
the CNF and the defendant only version.

Note that even if you do not click continue, after a few
minutes the CNF will be sent automatically.
