Claims Portal Walkthrough for Claimant Representatives: Creating and Sending a CNF for EL and PL claims www.claimsportal.org.uk 1 Your Work list screen 4 1. These buttons are displayed according to whether your organisation is registered for EL/PL and/or RTA. To start a new EL/PL Claim Notification Form, click ‘New’ next to EL/PL Process. 1 2 3 2. CNFs that you are working on are stored here. If the status is Claim Data Input/Edit, you have started but not yet sent these. Simply click on the yellow folder to open them. 3. You can find CNFs that have been started by expanding the EL/PL Process worklist summary and clicking on Claim Data Input/Edit. www.claimsportal.org.uk 4. The Help function will open up the Claims Portal website user guides in a new window. 2 Select Claim type 1 1. Select Claim Type from the drop-down list. www.claimsportal.org.uk 2 2. Please note, once selected, the Claim Type cannot be amended. It determines what data you need to enter and the layout of the printed CNF. This walkthrough will show the screens for the Employers’ Liability (Accident). The differences for Employers’ Liability (Disease) and Public Liability are described in the PDF available at the end of the Walkthrough. 3 Tab 1: Claim and claimant details for EL Accident claims 1. All yellow fields are mandatory and must be correctly completed for your CNF to send. 7 2. Enter your contact details in the boxes here. Do not click ‘PAF look up’ if you have entered the address manually. 1 3. Input defendant details. As before, if you type in the address details manually do not click ‘PAF look up’. 2 4. Click Search Compensator to reveal additional boxes to complete: Please use the first 3 letters of the compensator and press Search. Select the correct compensator from the list. 5. Enter details of the injured party here. Remember not to click ‘PAF look up’ if you have entered address details manually. 6. Whenever you add address details, you must include: - Number - Street 1 - Postcode - Town/City - Country Partially completed addresses will prevent the CNF from being sent. 3 6 4 5 7. Click to save progress at any time. 8. These options appear at the bottom of every tab. This field is limited to 500 characters, including spaces. . 1 2. Selecting ‘YES’ will open up additional boxes for completion. 3. For NHS hospitals: search by name or part-name only to widen the search. 2 3 4 5 4. For Private hospitals you must include the name of the hospital plus at least 1 line of the address (not including postcode). 5. Selecting ‘YES’ will open up additional boxes for completion – these are limited to 500 characters, including spaces. www.claimsportal.org.uk 5 Tab 3: Accident details – EL Accident 2 1 4 3 1. Complete the boxes with the details of the accident. This field is limited to 500 characters, including spaces. www.claimsportal.org.uk 2. Remember to always include four digits in the time, i.e. 07:30, 19:45, 00:20 etc. 3. Answering ‘YES’ will reveal additional box below. 4. Hover over the question mark to reveal further information. 6 Tab 4: Liability/Funding 1. Answering ‘YES’ to the questions in bold will reveal additional boxes to complete. 2. Hover over the question mark to see further details. i. Hover over the question mark to see further details. 2 1 3. Remember to select Yes from the dropdown list for the statement of truth. 4. Check that all mandatory information has been included in all tabs then click ‘Send’ to submit the CNF. Missing information is shown by Red boxes, and incorrect information is highlighted by a Red warning symbol . 5. You can use the Print CNF draft to generate a CNF without it being sent to the Compensator. This function can be used when you need to send a paper copy to the defendant when the Compensator is not known. www.claimsportal.org.uk 3 4 5 7 Notification date confirmation 1 2 1. The notification date defaults to the current date. If you have previously sent a paper copy of the CNF to the defendant where the protocol allows, you should enter the date when the form was posted. This must not be earlier than 29 working days previously. www.claimsportal.org.uk 2. If you press Confirm and the web screen is redisplayed on Tab 1, there is a validation error on one of the tabs. Display each tab in turn, look for error messages and formatting errors (red exclamation mark). Correct the errors, press Send and Confirm the date. 8 CNF print 1 1. If the CNF has been successfully generated and sent to the Compensator, you must open the printable documents and print or save a copy of the CNF and the defendant only version. www.claimsportal.org.uk 9 Printable documents 1. Either save the document when prompted or open it and choose ‘Save As..’ or ‘Print’ from the file menu. www.claimsportal.org.uk 11 Last step 1 1. Only once you’ve saved a copy of the CNF, click continue.
