Growing Holy with Age:
A Return to Spiritual Childhood
Thursday, November 13th
9:00-10:30 am
in Rms. C/D
The irony of aging is that as we grow in
wisdom, we are smart enough to know
that we certainly don’t know everything.
Indeed, the paradox is that as we age,
we realize that we must become more
and more childlike in our dependence
and abandonment to God’s loving
providence. Such is what St. Thérèse
called the Way of Spiritual Childhood—
it is the secret passage to Holiness...touching God’s heart...and others, with LOVE!
Deacon Gannon will be applying the
Way of Spiritual Childhood of St.
Thérèse of Lisieux and scripture to
spiritual growth and note the advantages being an older adult affords us for
HOLINESS and spiritual growth—
complete dependence on God, doing
little things with great love.
Deacon Dan Gannon is President and
CEO of Catholic Senior Services. He is
ordained for the diocese of LaCrosse
and lives in Prescott, Wisconsin with his
wife, Lisa, and four children. He holds a
law degree from William Mitchell and a
Masters in Theology from Holy Apostles
College and Seminary. He is presently
beginning doctoral work in moral and
spiritual theology. Deacon is a member
of the Archdiocesan ethics committee,
frequently speaks on end of life issues
and enjoys directing retreats at diocesan and parish levels.
Call the parish office at 612-866-5089
to sign up for this presentation.

“Credibility” becomes a household word, not because there is so much of it, but because there is such a lack of it. The church also needs people who not only practice
what they preach, but can also preach what they practice.

Archdiocesan Youth Day Last Weekend
About 2,000 high schoolers attended Archdiocesan Youth Day
last week. It was an all-day event, open to all high-schoolers in
the diocese. We began the night praising the Lord in song,
then we listened to the speaker for the night, Sister Miriam
Heidland. As the keynote speaker and she brought us a lot of
laughs along with some great truths about where and how we
can find happiness. We celebrated a beautiful Vigil Mass,
played basketball, and got to see the St. Thomas University.
Our teens really enjoyed the "Ask the Archbishop" part of
the night, where students texted or wrote down questions
for Archbishop Neinstedt and he answered with an argylesweater-ed priest/sidekick as a hilarious moderator. The
Archbishop answered questions ranging from, "What's
your favorite dinosaur?" to "What do you think about what
Pope Francis has said concerning gay marriage?" Our St.
Peter's teens even wrote a question that was picked to be
answered in front of everyone!
We closed the night in prayer before Jesus in the Eucharist. Jesus was processed in a monstrance around the
entire space, and wherever Jesus was, everyone knelt. It
was a beautiful experience to be in a crowd of 2,000
young people worshiping the Lord.
Praise God for the wonderful opportunity to go, and thank
you to all those who participated!
