--------------------------------Paper Submission and Publication
--------------------------------Submissions must include an abstract, keywords, and the e-mail address of the corresponding author.
The length of papers should not exceed 8 pages in the IEEE CS Conference format, including tables,
figures, and references. The template files for LATEX or WORD can be downloaded from the following
link:
http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html
All paper submissions must represent original and unpublished work. Each submission will be peer
reviewed by at least three program committee members. Should the paper be accepted, at least one of
the authors must register for the conference and present the work. All accepted and presented papers
will be published in conference proceedings by IEEE CPS (EI indexed).
Submit your paper(s) at the submission site:
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=bdcloud2016
Some of the best works from all accepted and presented BDCloud 2016 papers (after their expansion
and second round of independent reviews) will be invited into special issues of highly cited journals. We
contacted the editorial boards of the following journals: (1) Information Fusion (Elsevier and SCI
indexed), (2) Journal of Computational Science(Elsevier and SCI indexed), (3) Journal of Network and
Computer Applications (Elsevier and SCI indexed), (4) Sensors (MDPI and SCI indexed), (5) IEEE
Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computing (IEEE), (6) International Journal of Sensor Networks
(Inderscience, SCI indexed) and received confirmations about the possibility of offering a special issues
in all of them based on the works presented during the BDCloud 2016 conference.

--------------------------------Introduction
--------------------------------Big data is a term applied to many data sets with sizes going beyond the ability of commonly used
software tools to capture, manage, process and analyze the data within a tolerable time period. Such
datasets are usually characterized by having high VARIETY due to the data coming from various
sources or having highly unstructured character (examples include data from social media, sensor
networks, scientific applications, video and image formats, websites and documents, Internet search
indexes, medical records, business transactions, web logs, etc.); and large VOLUMES that are needed
to be processed with high data VELOCITY (I/O-intensive systems). Moreover, big data need to be high
VALUE and VERACITY for decision makers to effectively take action and trust the results and rationale.
Cloud computing is an increasingly popular approach for delivering information infrastructures and
resources as computing services. A broad range of customers (both enterprises and individuals) can
usually provision and deploy Cloud services via pay-as-you-go pricing models, which let them save
significant capital investments in their own computing infrastructures. As estimated by IDC, by 2020,
about 40% data globally will be touched with Cloud Computing.
Cloud Computing can provide significant storage, computation, and distribution capabilities in support
of solving multiple Big Data challenges. The BDCloud (Big Data and Cloud Computing) conference was
created to provide a prime international forum for researchers, industry practitioners, and domain
experts to exchange the latest advances in Big Data and Cloud Computing as well as support synergy
of both fields.
