The following information is furnished to assist staff joining the College to understand and
appreciate the work content of their post and the role they are to play in the organisation.

OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB
● To train, support, instruct, assess & teach learners undertaking qualifications in a
range of settings.
To liaise with employers to ensure the effective delivery of a professional service. To build
on existing partnerships and engage new employers and partners.
● To function as an Assessor/Instructor within practical working environments where
required.
● To function as a tutor within classroom based settings where required including
off-site delivery locations.
●
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To undertake the role of Work Based Assessor/Instructor as appropriate and provide
support for learners with Competence based Qualifications.
2.
To carry out Assessor duties on employer premises and in College where necessary in
compliance with industry requirements and awarding body standards.
3.
To function as a Tutor within practical working environments where required and
produce the highest quality learning and assessment materials and most appropriate
resources to support learning and assessment.
4.
To guide and support students in the effective pursuit of their individual learning
programme and progression planning.
5.
To liaise with the Workforce Development Manager regarding further training
opportunities arising from, or identified through assessment and training activities with
employers or strategic partners.
6.
To undertake initial assessment, basic information, advice and guidance and Skills for
Life assessment – following guidelines provided by the College.
7.
To develop the volume of candidates in line with the College’s strategic priorities.
8.
To manage a caseload of learners/employers as designated by the Workforce
Development Manager.
9.
To assist the smooth running of courses (in College, work based, off-site and distance
learning)
10. To work with college co-ordinators, off site centre staff and Business Development
Manager to ensure the training programme meets both the needs of the learners and
meets college targets.
11. To liaise with employers, managing agencies, government agencies, local authority
departments and educational establishments.
12. To liaise with Marketing and Employer Services in the College with reference to work
for public and private sector clients.
13. To undertake coursework assessment, the maintenance of accurate records of
student attendance, retention and achievement and supporting work experience
programmes.
14. To liaise with the Workforce Development Manager regarding further training
opportunities arising from, or identified through, assessment and training activities
with employers or strategic partners.
15. To provide regular reports of student and programme progress and offer guidance to
students on how to improve performance..
16. To maintain a current knowledge of best practice in your area of specialism and
demonstrate a commitment to personal and professional development.
17. To attend standardisation meetings, Course Team, Sector and College meetings and
external meetings appropriate to the post
18. To represent the College on public occasions, such as recruitment events and to
promote the best interests of the institution by creating a positive impression of the
College in the minds of potential clients.
19. To contribute to the marketing and promotion of courses in the Sector
GENERAL
● To demonstrate a positive commitment to the implementation of the College’s Equality

the range of duties described within this job description.

vulnerable adults the post-holder is responsible for or comes into contact.
